Real or fake?
Quote | Reply
If real- I want one!!!!

http://www.theverge.com/...hoverboard-interview

Looks legit but this part sounds a little far fetched for the size of the package:

"We have four engines inside, and the power is 250 horsepower each. It’s about 1,000 horsepower total."

It being in the trashy "Daily Mail" makes it sound even more fake.

Apparently they invented a water jet version of this. It is a stand up ride.

Good ?

It would be way easier to control as a bicycle jet quad copter something like this crazy bastard's contraption. Colin is lucky he didn't chop off his feet on this ride.

i guess i'll leave it to the engineers, but that part sounds crazy to me. bugatti veyron is 1200 horsepower, lamborghini aventador is 700, and this thing is 1000?

Not to mention. the lack of big air intakes. Those engines got to suck in as much air as blow out. And it looks like something that was made on a 3D printer. I call bogus!

Yay, physics beats real work. I’m probably wrong but wtf, I’ll give it a try.

Kineteic Energy manipulated to show mass flow rate (m/t) over a given period of time (delta t):

E= ½ x mv^2 = ½ ((m x delta t)/t) x v^2 = ½ x (m/t) x delta t x v^2

Power equals energy used in a time period:

P = E / delta t

Combining the two equations:

P = ½ (m/t) x v^2

Assuming the engine is hovering, the speed is equal to the air flow through the engine. Using the force of a known engine (use jetcat P200?, 52 lbs thrust, or 231 N), substitute air mass flow with force.

F = ma = m x (v/t) -> m/t = F/v

Inserting into the power formula above:

P = ½ x F/v x v^2 = ½ x F x v

And if we assume the max air flow is equal to the speed of sound ~ 340 m/s

P = ½ x (231N) x (340 m/s) = 39,270 Nm/s = 39,270 Watts

And finally, converting Watts to HP:

39,270 Watts x (0.00134Hp/1W) = 52.7 HP

So, about 1/5th what they're claiming. But that's the first small jet engine I could find. There may be many more that are more powerful.

Still seems fake to me though.

We're still talking about tits, right? It's a pretty short clip, but they appear to swing all the way through in a continuous wave, whereas the fakes usually either don't move enough (if they're packed too tight), or have an unnatural 'break' where the dissimilar sections (original vs add-on) don't jiggle in sync.

Lol. No, hover board seems fake. Tits look real (and fabulous) for the reasons you mention.
