So I watched 50 shades last night with the wife
Quote | Reply
Wow...what a crap movie! Not much on tv last night so we settled on this. After all the hype the books got (didn't read) what a let down!

Bad dialogue, acting sucked, couple of boob shots and a butt cheeks were the high points of the movie.

unfortunitely no! Maybe I shouldn't have brought up the anal fisting comment that was made in the movie.

I thought that was the only reason men watched that movie with their women.

As a side note: My daughter lives in Seattle and works downtown on the waterfront. About a month ago, they were shooting the sequel and shut down the entire block on which her office is located for a week. She was not amused.

Believe me I thought for sure it was going to be a good night, watching the movie was my wife's idea. Didn't pan out like I thought though.

Only been to Seattle once a couple of years back. Wife and I flew in for a cruise to Alaska and Canada and spent two days there. From what I remember, traffic was horrible downtown without the added mess of filming.

My wife read the book. The book was shit, according to her. She read a few passages to me. I agreed, they were shit.

My wife read them, I tried and made it a few pages in. The writing was just poor.

I read 5 pages of one of the books and couldn't read anymore and I have never stopped reading a book prior to that. I had absolutely no interest in the movie. I was watching with interest how the hype and marketing was working so well though.

It's incredible to me how often people act like lemmings. They go to a movie for one reason only, because others are going. The critics destroyed the movie but people kept going and after a short while they realised it sucks and that was the end.

Until the next time.

In this case I would disagree. I think people went and saw this movie because they want to see sex go mainstream. Not "R" rated sex but XXX sex. I think to some degree a certain portion of the female population wants to see well acted, socially accepted, non romantic sex. They ignored the "It's a bad movie" because they thought "So what it's actual sex".

I think a lot of the popularity of the books/movie is that it was socially acceptable porn for women.

You could have stopped at "Socially acceptable porn". Despite the fact that it's relatively well known that 99.87% of men watch porn on the internet, regularly or at some point in their lives, it's not really "Socially acceptable". Some women "Kinda" want "Some porn" to be "Socially acceptable" and most men do. So not only where women driving this but men where behind them say "Yeah, go see it...you'll like it...no really please!"

IMO for all the pushing of sex and sexualization of women in the US sex is still not "Socially acceptable". If a women has many sexual partners, she's a slut. If a guy watches porn, he's a pervert and on and on. Sexualization is NOT acceptance of sexuality and I think the latter is what people are truly looking for.

It was just a horrible horrible movie. If sex in real life was this boring the human race would go extinct in a single generation.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Movie was total crap. Wife thought it was "ok." When she read the books we had some fun. After we watched the movie we had some fun. I think the kids getting a little older and her being off the pill is the connection as opposed to the bad acting. Although if there is a sequel I am open to re-analysis.
