I did one loop of the Bike Course. Its about 27.5 miles per loopIt's now one loop of 56 miles.
Does anyone have any experience of the new course?
Cheers!
I did the Olympic which is basically the first half of the Half course. The hills are in that second half.
The olympic has a few steep rollers getting directly out of the Lake Harmony area and then makes it's way over to the Pocono Speedway (SOOOOO COOL to ride on!!). From there, we roll down the road, do two out and backs, and then head back into town. The roads are phenomenal, rolling terrain at best (I'm from CT, so I see it as pretty flat).
The Olympic has a touch under 1000 feet of elevation gain, but the Half has over 3000, so you have 2000 feet in the second half of the Half bike. Don't push too early or you'll be toast by T2. However, I am told by many competitors that the 2nd half of the Half bike is where all the amazing views are!
Great race!! I will be back again next year!
