Good read. However - I literally LOL'd when reading the parts about doping and Festina. Jens grew up in the East German system and was a super domestique for one of the dirtiest teams around (Riis's CSC team). And he acts like he first heard about doping during the Festina scandal. Heck off the top of my head I can name a dozen CSC riders who have admitted to doping - Basso, Zabriskie, Julich, Rasmussen, Hamilton, Jaschke. The Danish anti-doping commission even came out with a report a few years back claiming that Riis and CSC had a doping center based in Luxembourg.

You should have seen Voigt (and various other famous cyclists) explode when a German magazine asked them during a big doping scandal simply "Have you already doped today?"

Festina happened 6 or 7 years before Jens rode for CSC so it's pretty logical that that would be the first time he had heard of the doping.

You should read his book, he spends a fair amount of time talking about what it was like cycling through the doping years.

The entire article is a plug for his Gran Fondo?
