Next 17 years in the market?

I'm not generally positive on the market these days and I know that past performance is not indicative of future performance but....

Here's a chart showing the DOW adjusted for inflation. Kind of an interesting pattern that actually extends back to the bottom after the depression.

1933-1949 - Relatively flat 16 years excluding the immediate recovery after the final crash.
1949-1966 - Significant increase, 17 years
1966-1982 - Inflation adjusted drop, 16 years
1982-1999 - Some of the best gains in recent history, 17 years
1999-2016 - Relatively flat, 17 years.

If the pattern follows the next 16-17 years should be good, no?

If you're a trader there's always money to be made. If you're not, it depends on the market going up over time more then it does day to day or some drops etc. I'm kind of interested what people think the long term outlook will be.

I'd say it's 50/50

I'm generally less optimistic then that :-)

Well, I've decided that everything is 50/50. Either the next 17 years will be good, or they won't :)
