So there are no playoffs? Just end of the regular season and they are the champs??

Not sure if that's meant to be in pink, but no, not in the EPL. The lower leagues do have play-offs to see who gets promoted to the next league up. Not like your socialist American Football league where no one gets relegated or promoted.

Maybe the 1969 Mets are comparable in US major league sports?

Not really.

One good comparison I read yesterday was that if the 76ers won the NBA championship next year after going 10-62 this year.
Kinda close: Villanova in 85 winning as a #8 seed.
A little closer: VCU in 11 as a #11 in the final 4. If VCU would have won, it would have been the best comparison.

It still wouldn't capture the economic disparity between Leicester and the clubs that typically win the league. I don't think any U.S. sports have the sort of difference between big clubs and small clubs that exist in football leagues.

Yeah, cause most the American leagues are socialist ;)

It's be like North Dakota State winning the superb owl.

I think baseball would be closest since they have no salary cap. Would have been like the Devil Rays at the turn of the century going 55-106 in '02 then turned it around and won 100 games and the World Series the next year... Surprisingly that didn't happen

Congratulations to Leicester you deserve it. Spurs have no one to blame but themselves.

Even had Spurs won today there is NO WAY that those hacks hazard, fabregas or costa would have put forth any effort to win the final game of the season. Could you ever imagine Messi, Ronaldo, Brady, Kobe ever saying before the season is over that they hope Team A wins and not Team B?

It was disappointing to watch Spurs devolve yesterday. The play was testy throughout, but it got pretty embarrassing for the last ten minutes with all of the unnecessary penalties and cheap fouls. Second half composure isn't a strong point for that squad.

My knowledge of baseball is pretty much limited to having seen a few movies and one live game watching Chicago Cubs (which involved so much beer I don't remember much detail) but if Oakland Athletics had actually gone on to win the World Series in the year that Moneyball focused on (2002?) would that have been close?

Maybe, but not really the same magnitude. They had had a winning record the previous 5 years before that.

Leicester very nearly got relegated last year. Really their title run started in April of last season when they went on a title winning pace run just to stay in the Premier League.

If Crystal Palace wins the FA Cup, it will also be a big story, although not exactly the same as winning the league. In terms of economic disparity, Porto is a good example too, winning the CL against all the big clubs.
