Good point on Mr Bignet. I raced him earlier this year in France. I think he might also have a brother who is pretty swift too. However, as an ex-swimmer, i'm biased where other swim specialists are involved.

His brother (Stephan Bignet) was in the Olympics in 2000 (representing France in Triathlon of course).

But he's not as good as he was a few years ago. Time for the little brother to show what he can do.

Don't want to start the macca talk again, but you gotta be kidding right...
there is a world outside of Kona. I am not a fan of macca by any mean, but to say "until he delivers"...
that's a freakin joke!

the guy has won EVERYTHING but Hawaii. He is a world champion, won wildflower twice, espace from alcatraz, pretty much all the big races in the US,
a lot of draft free races, a lot of draft legal races, and two IM Australia in a row...

he doesn't have to deliver, he has done it already.

Andreas has been having recurrent achille tendon problems. he had surgery earlier this this year and needed an other one during Kona, that's why he wasn't there.
the last I heard was that he was hoping to be healthy for IM NZ in march, but if he wasn't he would retire.

check

www.triathlon.de it's somewhere there.

Diabolo,

Franck Bignet may have had a stellar year, but placing well in draft legal races only means that you can run fast, that is unless you do the Craig Walton, and ride away from the pack. I was looking for the favorite triathlete, not the best runner, =). Just poking at you. He may be a great person and triathlete. You are right, I do not know who he is.

But many people on this site, myself top of that list, consider a person great when they go long or go non drafting. It was stated that we do not give props to torbjorn sindballe even though he won the European Long Course Championship. That is all and good, but he did not be the top guys, such as a Reid, DeBoom, Macca, etc. It matters who you beat when you win =).

for info,

Bignet's strength is swim-bike combo, not the run. he is a good runner, but not a top runner, when he does well in ITU races, that means he is in the first pack hawling butt on the bike and holding on the run...

1) Slowman...where would we all be without HIM?

2) Gordo. He just seems nuts to me and that's good.

3) Wendy Ingram. She kissed me once, just on the cheek, (I made a banner for her when she race IMNZ a couple of years ago) but I'm not used to getting kissed by babes so I'll carry that memory to my grave.

4) Lisa Bently. Fast, Canadian and an "uber-hottie" to boot. What else do ya want?

Scott Molina. If you'd ever met him you'd know why.

There are way too many great Pros out there to pick just one or two, but I have to mention Melissa Spooner. Not only is she a total babe and have the most awesome "bum" in the sport (I know this for a fact, she mooned me at IMC this year), but she seems like an incredible human being as well. Dan ran a story about her comeback awhile ago that made me a real fan of this very impressive lady.

Personally, I always warm to those that challenge convention especially when it doesn't always work out. With this in mind my faves are the Larsen/Zack show. The style of racing is great just because it rattles everyone else's cage.

You can't beat Scott or Allens success. However success is admired objectively and this isn't always the bottom line - it's personalites that are admired romantically within a situation and that can be related to by joe age grouper.
