Key Largo To Key West Cycle Challenge

This event begins in Key Largo and ends at Higgs Beach in Key West and spans over 100 miles through the Florida Keys. It's more than just a race, it's a challenge for riders to handle their own support crew and navigate the Heritage Trail and Overseas Highway.

Divisions



Solo 2 Person Team 4 Person Team




2 and 4 person teams must have own support vehicles. They are permitted to exchange riders at anytime during race. They are permitted to have crew members help change flats, conduct repairs, exchange bikes or switch cyclists in case of break down. All riders must check in at transition check points on the course. Team divisions will have Men's, Women's and Mixed categories. Mixed teams must be evenly split.




Solo riders are permitted to have support vehicles and back up bicycles. There will be no roadside assistance in this race. We will have mechanical assistance at the check in points. Solo division will have Men and Women categories.






Course




The course begins at Key Largo Bike and Adventure Tours shop located at 91946 Overseas Highway, Tavernier Fl 33070. Cyclists will have the choice of using the shoulder of the road or use the Overseas Heritage Trail or a combination of both. Cyclists must obey all traffic laws.




Cyclists will be released in waves starting at 8 AM and ride southbound starting at the 92 mile marker and must check in at our first transition point located at the 58 mile marker at the Outpost Store on the Ocean Side of the Highway. They will be given a color coded wrist band as proof of checking in.




Cyclists will then continue south bound through Marathon, over the 7 Mile Bridge. Once they arrive to Big Pine Key, they must turn right at Wilder Blvd at the traffic light located at the 30 mile marker and follow the signs to No Name Key Pub. This is our second transition check in point. Again, you will be given a color coded wrist band.




The final leg will go into Key West and left on South Roosevelt Blvd all the way down to Higgs Beach on Atlantic Blvd. The finish line is in the parking lot of Salute Restaurant. Event will be timed. All Cyclists will be required to wear safety vests and have bib's pinned on back. Teams must hand off vests with bib's attached as a form of a team baton.
