I don't know about the 12 hour, but I'm 3/4 of the way through the 4 hour version. So far, it's better than the 2001 and 2002 VHS versions I have. 2001 really dragged out the mountain stages after the outcome of each was already well established, and 2002 just lacked the suspense although that's attributable to the race as much as any editing.

So far, what comes out loud and clear is that the boy had a fight on his hands this time, and that has made for good trainer riding. I wish there were a bit more footage, but not three times as much.
