Brief Job Summary:
The key role of the PowerBar Nutrition Tech Representative (NTR) is to promote PowerBar products to end users in performance nutrition specialty markets through in-store activities at specialty retail stores, conducting clinics, promoting product at sporting events and trade shows and through other various innovative sales activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Exercise discretion and independent judgment in identifying potential distribution channels, including specialty retailers (i.e. running, cycling, multi-sport and action sport stores) and clubs to promote the sales of appropriate PowerBar products to end users and in supporting PowerBar’s overall strategy goals.
· Responsible for identifying appropriate customer representatives in their market to work with, determining which products to promote to them and assisting the marketing representatives with marketing activities identified and presented by the NTR.
· Visit a designated number of targeted specialty retail stores to promote and solicit sales, monitor inventory, support each retail stores’ initiatives and provide recommendations to each store regarding product displays, promotional opportunities and events.
· Conduct sampling and assist with sales at selected special events, trade shows and retail accounts.
· Develop new accounts and business opportunities at existing retail accounts to increase overall sales.
· Locate and evaluate sports related events and make recommendations for company participation in such events.
· Assist with and manage event activations as needed. This includes event logistics, compliance and engaging consumers through education, sampling and sales.
· Conduct clinics featuring PowerBar products for specialty retailers and clubs
· Provide regular written reports detailing individual events and sales promotional activities in the NTR’s defined territory and those in which the NTR participates.
· Effectively evaluate business opportunities and formulate and revise budgets for implementing their work schedules.
· NTR’s are evaluated based on marketing activities utilized and sales of PowerBar products within the NTR’s geographic area.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Ability to work independently, without any direct supervision, in determining how to formulate and accomplish their marketing objectives in their assigned geographic areas.
· Must have effective product knowledge and selling skills to serve as an expert to educate retail stores and end consumers on all PowerBar products.
· Must have unique sports related knowledge and industry experience with respect to all related performance nutrition products, including those of direct competitors.
· Extensive knowledge of the local market for endurance sports (e.g., local events within the defined territory)
· Strong networking and communication skills.
· Articulate, assertive, self-motivated, confident, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving skills.
· Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
· Must be able to travel at least 80% of the time.
· Must be able to pass drug test and standard reference check.
· Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
· Proficient computer skills in word, Excel, Power Point. Strong reporting skills in Excel
· Good business acumen is a requirement, as is the ability to adapt well within rapidly changing work and industry environment.

Educational and Experience Requirements:
· 2-year college degree in a science-related field (biology, nutrition, or Exercise Physiology) or in marketing or business administration; or equivalent related industry experience.
· Minimum of 2 years experience in endurance-sport athletic industry or related experience; must have Sports Retail Understanding


Additional Preferred Requirements (but not required):
· PowerBar Team Elite sponsored athlete, top Age Group athlete or experience competing in professional athletic environment
· Member of NSCA , ACE certification or personal trainer certificate
· Experience working in an independent retail industry (e.g., running store, bike shop)
· Credible knowledge of industry, specifically the running, cycling, multi-sport, and action sports industry
