Though keep in mind that Popov's pure speed. His longest race is less than 50 seconds long. In terms of training programs, using Popov's program for open water tri swims is kind of like training like Michael Johnson to improve your 5K run time.

IMO, the best swimmers for trifolk to look at for stroke dissection purposes are the medium height elite women: Lindsay Benko, Natalie Coughlin (who could have easily won the 500 free at NCAAs last year), Hannah Stockbauer, etc.

I didn't get to meet you at the SRITRI, but congratulations on placing in the Athena division. I was pretty happy with my time, although it was 3 minutes slower than my goal. But, I guess that's why they call them goals. Anyway, beautiful day to race after that T-storm blew over.
