I was dumb enough to try to tackle the long course and the short course in the same day. I had about 40 minutes or so to switch numbers on my bike, singlet, re rack my bike rehydrate and go again. needless to say I cracked hard on the bike and bailed a mile into the run because i was completely shelled. My Step Mom who came with me ( and got me into this crazy sport in the mid 80's) was on the side of the course telling me that it was time to pull the pin. I miss that race as punishing as it was always a very fun weekend, and of course the great parties we had Saturday night.
