Triple or MTB cassette
I'm doing a hilly race mid-season and NEED to either get a triple or, as my LBS suggested, get a MTB cassette. Will this work? I train with a 12-27 because I live in a hilly area. I would lik one more "bail out" gear to keep my cadence up. has anyone tried using MTB gears on a road bike. Add your 2 cents Tom! thanks.

I think that you can switch to the MTB cassette, however, I think that you would also need to switch to a long cage r.der. depending on what size MTB cassette you choose.

I love the idea of a racing triple. It allows the use of a real tight rear cluster.[12-21]If you go to a cassette with a 30 or 34 you will have to go with a MTB der. It's alot less money but will have huge gaps in your gears.
