Reports are saying Tom Ridge is leaving as well-, and who can blame him-- talk about a thankless job-- if nothing happens you get second guessed, if something does happen you get blamed.

I think he has lost 6? I heard on the radio that Clinton replaced 7 going into his second term and Nixon replaced all of his in 5 years. I'm not sure why this is such a big story given the history of cabinet members leaving at the start of the second term.

It's normal to replace and reshuffle cabinet members. I don't know why it's such a big deal. Everyone who is leaving has always said that they are 1 term candidates.
I agree-- but I don't recall all resignations in the same week-- seems to me that in other administrations they were more spread out. (not that it matters). My original post was that, while I'm sure Ridge can be replaced, that is a tough job to fill. I don't blame him for resigning -- that has to be a very stressful position.
