DeSoto Coolwings

Just wondering who has them and what size they wear? I am thinking about ordering a pair but have no clue if I should do so in a small or extra small. I did send an email to Emilio asking for advice but thought I would post here to see if someone who has a pair has an opinion on how they fit. Even better is that person was 5'2" about 115 lbs with no shoulders.

Thanks!

I have a pair in size small - I ordered before the made x-smalls.

When I put them on, they seem pretty big, but when I am down in aero I think they may be just right, if that makes sense.

I'm 5'5" and around 125.

There are a few pictures of me wearing them here:

I'd be interested to see how the XS fits, and if I'd like them any better, but oh well. Also I have not worn then since IMAZ in april 08 - they were awesome there and definitely served a purpose, but I live in Houston where our humidity is through the roof, and so far haven't felt like wearing them on a hot sticky day. Hot and dry, they were awesome. I just did CDA (not too many awfully hot rides for that) and am about to start training for IMFL, so may have a few hot rides there that I may pull them back out for.

They did a great job of blocking the sun too - I did not put sunscreen on underneath and did not get any sun at all. There was one side in teh back where they flapped up though and I got a bad burn there!

ok sorry that was long!

Kathleen, have you tried getting them wet? I tend to wear mine more when it's humid/muggy (not that the Pacific Northwest gets even remotely as humid as Houston) but it makes a huge difference. I wet them down before I leave the house initially and then just squirt water on them from the bike bottle as they dry out. YMMV.

I definitely squirted water on them the entire time in IMAZ, but I'm already wet most of the time in Houston - we finish triathlons and look like we just got out of the water at the end of the run, it is quite lovely.

I still might try them on some lovely August 4-5 hour rides though - and will bring extra water to squirt on myself in the event our humidity is below 90%!

side note, the humidity here actually hadn't been bad the last 3-4 weeks, just temps over 100, but the humidity came back this week and OMG, it is absolutely oppressive - the heat index has been over 110 now.

I'm 5ft 4" and 51kgs(dunno what that is in pounds). I bought the small before they had xtra small and they were too big. I had to adjust them with the sewing machine. I would go for the xtra small.

Curious, where did you get the black set that's in your picture on your blog too?

I have black and pink that are fabulous - both from Terry Cycles.

The black is the "thermal bolero": http://www.terrybicycles.com/...rrent/thermal-bolero

The pink I wore on the run is "bolero light": http://www.terrybicycles.com/...current/bolero-light

I think they are easier to get on than regular arm warmers when you are wet. The only potential issue is getting them off - not quite as easy when you are riding, but in CDA they had no need to come off, so not an issue at all. They also can tie around your waist pretty easily and I don't always have on tops with big enough pockets to stuff arm warmers in.

Do they actually keep you cooler? I'm considering them for IMLouisville; it's likely to be very hot and humid on race day

I've not worn them in extremely humid conditions, but they've worked really well for hot & dry.
