The Halloween vote
Sales of political masks at Halloween have correctly predicted the winner of the U.S. presidential election for the past six elections, reports BuySeasons, a Wisconsin costume company. Intrigued when its Bush masks outsold Gore masks 57 per cent to 43 per cent in 2000, the company talked to five other mask manufacturers and 12 costume stores to look at political-mask sales. The company discovered that the election winner always sold the most masks at Halloween, reports Cox News Service. As of last week, George W. Bush masks were outselling John Kerry masks 53 per cent to 47 per cent, but one costume seller in Atlanta said it's too early to call the race because most adults don't buy their costumes until late in the month.
