Check out the new nike shoe on Nike's running page. It's called the Kukini and espacially made for triathletes. It actually doesn't look half bad... but I'm not a shoe maniac like some. Haha.

Re: New Nike Shoe [bigd]

I saw this shoe at the Taipei Marathon Expo last Sunday and was told it went on sale the next day. After taking a look at it there I have placed it at the top of my shopping list. I am always ready to try lightweight cushioned trainers. If it fits as well as the Pegasus does I'm sure I'll love it. I'll post a review once I get a pair and test them out.
For what it's worth, I'm pretty much a "Pose" runner, i.e. high cadence mid-to-forefoot striker, and I do well in lightweight trainers like the Saucony Staic Lite, New Balance 829/30/31, and ASICS DS Trainers.
The deeper you get the sweeter the pain. Don't give up the game until your heart stops beating.

I just ordered a pair from Eastbay yesterday. It was the only place that I could find them in stock right now and is the first time I have ever ordered shoes mail order. I'll post how they feel once I get them.

From what I have seen/heard the new Kukini is similar to the old Nike Sock Racer and Air Sock from the mid/late '80's so everything old is new again. Both of those shoes were awesome - best racing flats that I ever had. There were not for everyone and they had lousy durability, but if you liked that feeling of running with nothing on your feet but the bare minimum of protection and cushioning they were great.

Very intresting. I can definately see how the velcroe straps can make them quicker to put on but I wonder how that mesh would rub against your bare foot. Also if you have to run through sand like our local Tri it looks like you would get a foot full of sand. If your going right from the water to the shoe I can see the advantage but if you have a bike shoe by the time you get off the bike your feet will be dry. I would like to get some imput from people after they use them. On first blush they seem like they may be a good product for specific circumstances but maybe not for Tri's in general.
does anyone know how they changed this shoe from the old kukini?
the velcro is new i think, but my brother has a pair of them that are 2 years old, i never realized that they were the same shoe.
