Whey shack, then a full meal after I shower (what it is depends on time of day).

Any workouts longer than an 1.5 hours or high intensity, I usually have a quick protein mix of Vega protein powder and coconut milk or a clif bar within 30 minutes. This is just to tide me over until I can have a shower and prepare a meal.

Sugar is your friend, and is more important immediately following a hard workout than protein especially when you will have a hard workout the following day. Of course you can have both with something like Muscle milk, or the whey/banana w/Nutmellow idea. I would think a drink with glucose (eg, Pediolyte) will be absorbed the quickest. But any drink or food with sugar is good. You want a high glycemic drink (or food).

Endurox R4. It is probably just something like Whey protein and sugar, but I sware I notice a difference in recovery when I get cheap and stop buying it. Chocolate milk (someone called it "cow puss", which I thought was funny) just doesn't seem to work as well for me either.

Chocolate covered raisins and cashews on my way to the shower.

On a good day, a beer in the shower.

Post gym, I was asking about muscle recovery at the Body Energy store (below the gym).
They suggested 5g (1 scoop) of the L-Glutamine and also magnesium to relax the thrashed muscles.

I bought a tub of it to try. I hope it helps. Be curious if others have used the supplement.
