A conversation I had with my girlfriend today
Quote | Reply
Me: hey do you want to go out to dinner tonight?
Her: yes absolutely!
Her: where are we going to go?
Me: (knowing she hates when i’m indecisive) well i have a few places in mind, (I list 3 or four places of varying fanciness/cuisine so there’d be something she’d like)
Her: okay, any of those sound good, just let me know (:

A little while goes by

Her: so where are we going?
Me: I was thinking de Leon? (Small, authentic Mexican joint we love)
Her: oh... okay.
Me: does that not sound good? We can do something else if you’d like (:
Her: no that’s okay
Her: well actually Mexican doesn’t sound very good today
Me: (offers two other additional suggestions)
Her: meh.
Me, knowing she’ll necer turn it down: sushi?
Her: yes that’s perfect how’d you know?!

Sound familiar?

No. In my house it would go like this:

Her: so where are we going?
Me: I was thinking de Leon? (Small, authentic Mexican joint we love)
Her: oh... okay.
Me: does that not sound good? We can do something else if you’d like (:
Her: no that’s okay

Me: Hooters it is

The kicker is I don't think she knows there are no Hooters in Columbus but she'll still make the call.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

She has clearly lost interest in you and has found someone else.

In all seriousness, I HATE it when my wife does stuff like that.
"Where do you want to eat tonight?"
"You pick, I always pick"
"Ok, let's go here"
"No, I don't feel like that tonight"
"Ok, so you pick or I'm going where I want alone in 5 minutes".

They don't want you to pick where you want to go. They just want someone else to make the decision they would otherwise make for them.

Don't get me started on getting the "oh... Ok". USE YOUR WORDS, WOMAN.

Married over 21years to one of my high school honeys...

Me: “I’m getting a burrito, you wanna come.”

Her: “Ok.”

Me: “let’s walk”

Her: “sounds good.”

The problem is you are giving options.

Don't give her the choice, so the conversation is,

You: I've decided we're going to dinner tonight.
Her: Oh, I love how you make decisions, where are we going?
You: We're going to the Mexican place so get ready.
Her: After dinner, I'll do whatever you want.

You're welcome.

I always tell her "It's not my fault, you said yes twice." She usually shakes her head while walking away

You know when you and your wife are in the car and she asks if you are hungry? Yeah, she really doesn't care if YOU are hungry.

Sharing the decision making process is all part of the bliss of relationships.

My wife decides where we go to eat some of the time and I choose some of the time which she usually agrees to and shortly later changes it to something she wants. Easy peasy

In my house my wife is usually asking me about this or that option. I give my answer and she often says, Really, I was more thinking the other thing.

Gotta free with a Duffy on this one too. That's 2 for 2 today.

When your dating, this is usually how it goes. You have plans and you invite a girl. Things change when relationships become longer relationships. Keep it like your dating, You make plans and invite the girl.

Monty dear, you have opinions on everything. Luv ya!!

And it’s not just dudes asking girls out. Trying to get a group of women to agree where to go it’s torture. Just a couple of weeks ago, this:

F1: let’s all go to dinner after we finish getting our nails done.

Agreement. Where should we go that will fit at least six people?

F2: suggests 2 or 3 places

F3: I don’t think we can go there because (a) there’s nothing for vegetarians or (b) there’s no meat for husband to eat.

F1: I don’t care where we go but let’s go soon because I did a long bike ride and I’m hungry.

This goes back-and-forth for 10 minutes.

clm: i’m going to dinner at X. If you all want to meet me there I will see you there.

End of discussion and that’s where we went to dinner.

This is correct

My wife loves books and reading, loves having intelligent conversations with other educated women, loves getting together to try out new food dishes based on cultures from around the world captured in various stories... And absolutely fucking loathes her book club's decision-making process. It's gotten to the point she pretty much just ignores all the email threads until someone singles her out and says 'Hey, we decided to read this book and meet at So-and-So's house on this day'; she's given up trying to help steer the bus (but of course still complains to me about whatever it is they picked that she doesn't like, only not enough to do anything but go along...)

Sounds like the perfect woman, gastronomically speaking

I loooooove me a good burrito or chimichanga. Problem is they are few and far between here in Oz :-(
Wife cooks a wicked slow cooked, pull beef chimichanga (thankfully)
