Just so everyone has all the info when making their wagers (and in case I need an excuse!)

- these are the conditions I train in (from this past monday's swim) "Some interesting conditions - at one point there were 6 of us sharing 2 lanes but there was no lane rope between them (lazy guards), no one was circle swimming and I was trying to squeeze in some fly here and there when I wouldn't be smashing into anyone. Good times... "

- Jason has been training here

- I have a 3.5 hour drive to get to the meet location
- Jason has to drive across the bridge from Halifax to Dartmouth (maybe)
- I will already have completed the grueling 50 breast prior to this race
- Jason will be fully rested as it's his first event
- I have a blister between two of my toes <-- this may be my undoing!

and I'm still going to win!

Excuses already?? You haven't even lost yet.

While your relaxing on your leisurely 3.5 hour drive, I'll have been chasing a toddler for about 8 hours straight. You'll feel a million times better just leaving that hellscape you call PEI and coming to our Nova Scotian Paradise

You'll have a warm-up event under your belt to hone your start and turn. I'll be going in cold.

I'm older, but experience and guile does count for something ;-)

You've already stated that you're swimming the best you have in a while. I've been training for a month.

I will still crush your dreams despite all the advantages you have going into this.

Just like a Canadian to make a big deal about racing for second place.

28.5 for the 50 fly? If I was in that race swimming free, you'd beat me by about 15-20M. FML.

This part may hurt but I'm totally blaming the blister if you win.

Pistols? At 50m? This is not going to end well.

youth and enthusiasm are no match for age and treachery. Go Jason.

Every good swimmer always has their excuses preloaded and ready. And backup excuses on well.
As a kid we all had the excuse T-shirt with about 20 excuses written on it. I think it was from Speedo.

Don't really have a horse in this race; but I'll through my 2 cents in on Jason. (That's what? About 1.6 cents in real money? How many loonies is that? 1 egg?)

Second. The indoor pool at Dartmouth has only 2 or 3 LC lanes, so lane assignment is weird.

However, I can't get too excited about a 28.50 time because my daughter has swum a 24.90 as a D2 freshman In the 50 fly SCY at a nerdy engineering school,... and she didn't get recruited by Dartmouth (though we tried and it is their loss).

Good luck to both of you :-)

This post has much funny in it...

Aren't they in a 25 Meter pool, so they would in essence be about 10 feet apart? And with 1 guy in the lane between them, one of them might actually have a chance to win?

That's pretty funny.
I also find it funny that someone goes with the horse reference and not the devalued money or bird references.

What's with the little punk that snuck in late with the 28:00 seed time?

I'm calling shenanigans. Colin swims / coaches for the host club.

Not sure what kind of shape he's in, but he could give Josh a run

I'm rooting for the Canadian.

But whoever gets the same lane as the guy at 1:25 of this video is screwed:

Are the results in yet? Did this event happen or is it in ST fiction folklore and these guys are drinking in a bar in Halifax right now?
