Anyone ever gotten the balls to say what you were thinking...

In the grocery store line?

You know what I'm talking about here. Fat Ass in slippers and pajamas is buying frozen pizzas and a case of Coke. Judgement is written all over your face, but do you actually speak up and give this lazy good for nothing a public shaming.

I never have, but have been sooo close many times.

I probably wouldn't just for looking unkempt. If someone is being a dick head then I would probably be more inclined. I don't think I ever have though.

When you are 5'7" and 130 lbs you really have to gauge what could happen if said person wants to throw down.

What's the point, so you can feel better?

Sure, when they have a cart full and are in line for the 10 item or fewer express lane. Then somehow they think I'm the dickhead for pointing out that they aren't entitled to do whatever they want.

For being a "Fat Ass," there aren't enough hours in the day and why brother.

Suffer Well.

Pretty much that. The other day I pointed out to the guy using his cell phone in the change room that he is not allowed to do that. He was right under the sign saying no use of phones in the change room (due to the cameras). He says, "I would never take a picture" in a rather indignant way. I told him I have trouble figuring out what people who take pictures look like.

You shouldn't because that person's choices have nothing to do with you. That just makes you a preachy asshole (saying something that, thinking it is normal).

I was inline at the bank (in 2002) signing a check when someone walked past me grabbed a pen and signed his check in his hand instead of on the desk thereby "passing" me in line. I thought he was going to let me back ahead of me but he stared at me and said he was there first. So I asked him, "what is the name of the whore who birthed you?" I don't do that any more.

whatever items are being sold in a store is then a reasonable item to purchase in that store - and even ignoring that I'd say your problem is that you are giving permission to others to rule over you.

I'd rather recognize the fact that you never know what battle someone is going through and how they cope with it. Some people's internal crap shows itself through pretty obvious external ways like obesity, being unkempt, addiction.

Other people's internal crap shows itself in more subtle ways: the need to be an awesome endurance athlete to prove you're awesome (seriously, Google "divorce by triathlon" and see if you still think those triathlete people are better than those obese people), the need for some to have flashy cars & homes to prove they're something, others who can't actually be authentically honest & hide themselves in goofy personalities.

We're all going through shit or have gone through shit or will go through shit. Taking the time to realize that mine also stinks helps me when all I want to do is overlook my own, come unhinged, and judge others. And it also helps me find a way to address my own and sympathize with others & do the little that I can to help make theirs a little better, even if it's just a smile.

So now instead I smile at a lot of people. It's amazing just how far a simple smile & a genuine "have a great day!" goes in getting past some of my snap thinking toward others. I'll save saying what's on my mind for when people are actually causing harm to someone else.

Was at the movies a few days ago when a guy (30 something) pulls out his cell phone. I let it go once during the opening credits.....then again after 10 minutes later.....but the third time was it. I went down the two rows in front of me and suggested that he leave his phone off during the movie as it was extremely distracting to anyone behind him. His excuse was he had kids at home with a babysitter. My response was " I don't care". If you need to check your phone, go out into the lobby - the next time I see it on, I will get an usher to escort you out. He complied after that and left his seat a couple more times to check his phone.

I wasn't trying to come off as an asshole, but this is one of my pet peeves.....

Using a cell phone at the theater is quite different than just being a fat slob, or being barefoot (or having fucked up ears).

Not too long ago, I was sitting in my car in the nearly empty parking lot of the local Post Office - sealing envelopes, affixing stamps, etc. when I see a guy come in hot and pull into one of the handicapped spots right in front, clearly in a hurry. Since I have a particular disdain for people who abuse handicapped spots, I took a quick look to see if he had handicapped plates, or a permit hanging from his rear-view...nope, neither. I see him jump out of the driver's side door and start to haul ass toward the P.O., clearly able-bodied. He then stops abruptly, hauls ass back to his car, hangs a handicapped permit on the rear-view and heads back into the P.O.

I SO wanted to go in and ask him when being a lazy, inconsiderate dickhead had become a recognized handicap - but I decided that the risk/reward math just wasn't to my liking.

Who died and made you God?

30 years ago I was pinching below 5% body fat and was one of the fastest cyclists in my area but now I'm morbidly obese. I don't wear pajamas but I might go to the store in sweats and sandals and I might even buy frozen pizzas and Coke.

After decades of being over worked, under appreciated, going through a painful divorce, financial problems, career insecurity, health challenges and depression I was in a downward spiral and every time I felt like I was turning things around I had another setback. I'm doing better now but my situation is still precarious so no telling what the future holds.

Speaking for myself and the "lazy good for nothings" you look down on. Go to Hell.

Twice

First in the grocery line, two younger adults were wearing stupid big-ass bell bottoms (this was in the early 2000's). So I said to my wife, I'm going to ram the front of the cart into their ankles so they'll swell up enough to fill those stupid jeans. Needless to say the young folk didn't find it funny and just glared.

Second instance, movie theater, the first Lord of the Rings. The lady behind us had an infant with her who cried continuously! I finally turned and asked if she was ever going to take her baby out of this movie theater. She got up and never returned. I mean, who the hell takes a baby to movie like that?

I'd only say something if they were being outwardly rude. Just had this happen a few weeks ago in front of the post office where a woman was parked in a no stopping zone and also well off the curb while waiting for someone inside, parked in a way so that no one could get by her to get to a parking spot. I tapped the horn and she didn't move, tapped it again and she crept forward just barely enough so that I could squeeze by with a few inches to spare. Her window was down so I told her she wasn't in a parking spot and was blocking other people from getting in. She told me that I was impatient for honking my horn so I replied that she was inconsiderate and selfish (I made sure not to swear or call her names) for blocking others. She then told me to calm down and walk away, so I replied "That's right, you block everyone else and don't care, yet somehow I'm the bad guy. Have a nice day!"

This happened to me in school. I was on the subway at about midnight and only me and another guy on my car. Guy lights a cigarette. No smoking in the subway clearly signed. I start getting steamed and he was smaller than me so after about 10 min I go over and say, "Can't you see the sign, no smoking" He says, "Can't you give a guy a break, I just got out of the pen" So I ask him what for. He says, "I killed my father." I got off at the next stop.

Something similar to me happened many years ago when my son was in elementary school. I would park in the parking lot and walk him to his class. There was a drop-off zone for parents that I walked by on the way to taking him to class. As I was walking, I saw a woman in a SUV in the drop-off zone talking to her daughter. I had seen her doing the same thing before, always blocking traffic. I walked him all the way to class and then walked back out. She was still there, talking to her daughter and blocking traffic. I told her that she needed to quit blocking traffic and use the area as it was intended. And that if she wanted to have a conversation she should do it while driving or park in the parking lot.

She drove off in a huff, but other parents gave me the thumbs up because they were fed up with her.

I'm the kind of person who typically goes out of my way to be considerate to people, so it pisses me off to see people who are horribly inconsiderate.

Well that makes you a normal if somewhat critical person, stepping over that line makes you an asshole of the highest order and probably worthy of a public shaming yourself.
