Reach out to a local cycling or tri club, they often have references

Over in Charlotte we have someone very active in the community (although I'm not there anymore) that could possibly refer you to someone in your area.

Ann is extremely nice and very competent.

ETA - correction, she appears to have done representation in Wilmington herself, so there's that.

This helps a lot! Not having to explain certain things, like why your bike costs more than some cars and etc. is but one of many reasons.

Wishing you a healthy recovery and good luck in finding someone to represent you. I found someone that is a fellow triathlete.

Sorry to hear about your accident, much less in my hometown. I am a local internist. If you have any additional medical questions, feel free to PM me. I may have a "word of mouth," referral for an attorney as well.

Do you know ANY lawyers in North Carolina? One of your friends or a lawyer who has done a house closing, or your employer's corporate work, anything. You want to start by talking to a good, reputable lawyer. They can identify an expert, legitimate personal injury lawyer who is in the Wilmington area.

You should contact who I referenced. That's the best advice in this thread.

Please note that the 1st thing any competent attorney would tell you is:

DON'T DISCUSS YOUR ACCIDENT ON AN INTERNET FORUM.

Seriously. Talk to an attorney. Don't compromise your case by telling Slowtwitch about it.

James is right. Ann Groninger is who I used when I got hit. I'm in Raleigh and it was not a problem with her being in Charlotte. Bike Law was great and did a very good job with the negotiations and settlement. Highly recommended.

They will tell you what you need to do, but in general, take pictures, keep a daily journal (how you are feeling, pain level, what you can and can't do, etc). Also, be sure to keep all receipts.

Good luck
