Emilio,

Based on reviews above, would love to try your product out this season in training as I prepare for my first Ironman in August.

Went to the website, didn't see authorized dealers for Canada - can I order the product off the website and have it shipped to Canada?

Also, sizing chart was somewhat confusing from a top versus bottom perspective.

I am 5'9", weigh 160 lbs (and dropping), 30/31 inch waist and my chest is about 37 inches (wear either a 36R or 38R suit, depending on brand). Would you recommend based on the sizing charts a medium short (likely the low profile Forza) with a small top?

Thanks,

Clint

I'm in the hunt also for a one piece, but I may have gone too long on my search as St. Anthony's is this coming weekend and I leave Thursday to get to Florida.

I like the idea of the Kiwami Konami (pronounced "Kona Me"? LOL) but eh top straps and arm holes look snug fitting, not wide open like the Amphibian. I like the idea of the material and the front zipper of the Konami, but I'm a bit deterred by the thought of the chaffing from the small diameter arm holes.

Or am I just imagining the top is more material than the Amphibian?

I would go with the Amphibian, but I rather have a front zipper.

Indeed, the arm holes are a little wider with the Amphibian. Would that be a cause to worry about chaffing with the Konami? I do not beleive so as we have basically the same cut as the original Kaiman, a LD suit we've had for 4 years now.

For St Anthony's, advantage to wear the Amphibian is you could swim in it and forego the speedsuit...
Your call; Thursday delivery is still possible.

What has the water performance been like of the Konami and the Kaiman? We're looking at new long distance suits, suitable for half to full ironman distance races, and want the (almost impossible!) good padding as well as serious 'slipperyness' in the water.

Thanks

Chris

Hello Andre Bennatan and All,

Is Konami suit cut and fabric (teflon treated) legal for Ironman Hawaii in October 2010 for swim?

What suit do you recommend?

Hello Emillo and All,

Does your one piece trisuit meet WTC Ironman Hawaii October specs for cut and fabric for swim?

Our Forza ITU Trisuit does. We are working right now on changing the material on our Liftfoil back to the way it was in 2009, which has always been and will remain WTC legal after their silly rules go into effect.

Hi,

At the exception of the Kameleon, all our trisuits, including the Konami are 100% free of rubberizzed material. They do not cover the neck nor extend past shoulders and knees. They do have a zipper and this is allowed.

My take for Kona: I do not think you would get any specific advantage by swimming in your Konami or any trisuit with front opening and with open pockets. I would even say you may be slowed down.

I would suggest two routes: the Mako (our "speedo") or the Jammy (our "jammer"), and then put the trisuit on at transition.
Other route: our super light, super fast and no shamy Amphibian trisuit to swim in. Its zipper is in the back (no drag) and it has no pocket. I do think that suit may help you with a faster swim.
It is legal.
Then, you could switch to a more "comfy" kit if you deem it necessary.

Always happy to answer more questions.

Thank you,

Thank you for asking.

Typically, long distance tri suits will have a front opening and a few open pockets, be it in the back or on the legs.
Two features that make those suits not very suitable to swim with.
Our Konami and Kaiman do fit into that category. Those suits -for those looking for performance- should be worn under a wetsuit or be worn after the swim.

We do have other options at Kiwami:
1st, the "Jordan Rapp choice": he races (as many others do) his Ironman races with our Amphibian. A super light, super fast drying trisuit. Also, no shamy, no pockets, back zipper and teflon treated material (legal): drag is reduced to a minimum.
Now, you have to adapt your racing plan accordingly and as Jordan does, think carefully about how you are going to carry your nutrition.

The other option is the Trinergy: a super versatile trisuit. Back opening, outside pocket with its zipper, teflon treated material and a decent but not bulging shamy: you have all it takes to swim fast in it and to keep on racing your IM or Half.
I've seen quite a few of those last year in Kona.

As you can see, there is no clear cut solution and each athlete may prefer any of those solutions.

In case you need to see the suits, we are always willing to ship some. Touching and feeling may help in your selection process.

I am also looking for a race suit for this year. Will use for the first time at Florida 70.3.

I have narrowed my choices to:
DeSoto Forza Tri Suit
2XU Elite (although that Project X looks interesting)
Kiwami Konami or Kaiman X Club

I can vouch for the 2xu elite race suit. I love it...barely feel it's there.

I have the desoto forza trisuit and love fits well. I also have the forza trishorts and some forza and carrera tops, I use for training. I prefer the carrera tops over the forza. And their customer service is the reason I buy them. I lost some stuff on my last race sent them an email and they replied back in 45 minutes. I cant get my cable company to answer the phone in 45 min. As I've gotten older customer service is worth a lot more the 5-10 dollars you may save.

Best,

I wear a padded brief under my Amphibian, lest anyone think I have the taint of steel...

I've searched high and low for this padded brief you speak of. What do you use?

Is it to much to think about putting a pair of cycling shorts on for the bike of a 70.3 (as far as I'm going this year). I can go about an hour and a half with no pad but 56 miles might be pushing it as far as comfort goes.

I'll join the dog pile and rave about the Amphibian. I'll never wear anything else if I can help it. Since we can't race naked (right?), this suit is the next best thing. Fits like a glove with no chaffing or discomfort. I hate to much compression on my chest when I'm running. IMO the Amphibian doesn't offer any more restriction than I get from my Garmin HRM. I know it's there but it doesn't make me feel like I'm hyperventilating from the compression.

No need to search for anything else IMO.

I have an Orca one that is no longer made. But I've started testing a Kiwami prototype that should be offered for sale this year. It is very good. That is what I used in Abu Dhabi.

Bringing back an older thread here, but after almost 4 months of racing, I'm curious to see what everyone's preferences are as far as Ironman trisuits go.

Based on what I've read I'm leaning towards buying a de soto forza for IMLou, but would also like to hear people's thoughts on kiwami and sls3's offerings as well.

I'm not looking to buy a speedsuit for the swim, just want one trisuit I can wear the entire time with as few problems as possible. I'm 6'2" 168 lbs. with a 31/32" waist.

Thoughts?

Do you not make your Forza trisuit with a float pad? Now that would be THE perfect suit. Forza is awesome but not gonna sit on that little piece of fleece for more that 56 miles ( even 56 HURTS). Speedfoil and ITU suits are sweet with the floatpad, but no pockets....just have them share some love and have sweet little forza babies with the floatpad...pleaaaase!!!

Where can you buy Desoto? Is it just online? Never actually met anyone who uses it apart from guys on this forum. Can recommend 2xu, Blue Seventy or Tyr. All great gear and widely available.
