Depends on what you mean by ok financially and how you want to travel

If you want four seasons and business class you need to make bank

If on the other hand you just want to travel you can do that on a budget even with kids internationally

Get to India and se Asia you can stay and live as a family for less than lunch in the us

My international experience is lacking. Id really wish to expand it but funds and having little kids at home is the main issue.

Serious question, are most of these travels for work? No way could I afford a trip to Europe now (even without the kids) and id consider myself pretty good financially for my age.

I used to work on a ship so the number of countries add up fairly quickly, unless you are stuck on a line between 2-3 ports. But lots of trips were in my young and single days. You know, backpack and all that simple way.

I wonder if I should add the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on my list. When I was stationed at Camp Essayons in Korea, our unit took a tour to Panmunjom and you walk in this building that consists of a table with a line down the middle. We then we walked around the table so technically we were in North Korea for a moment. This was back in '86. I wonder if they still run that tour?

USA, Canada, Mexico

UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Vatican, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Luxemburg

Israel

Lacking in range, but marrying a European citizen has anchored most trips to Europe. I expect to expand the list in the coming years.

It is less expensive than expected to travel internationally, if you have some friends/family there, and know how to find cheap flights.

My cousin is a successful travel writer, based in Sydney, and is travelling constantly. I have to imagine he would be at least double anyone else's list. His list would be more interesting for which countries are not on it!

I visited Norway last autumn. Recommend limiting time in Oslo or other big cities and head to the Jotunheim area to experience the beautiful nature. Spiterstulen mountain lodge was a great base to hike the two highest peaks in Norway: Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind. No problem doing them solo also. As an added bonus the breakfast buffet there served caviar!

I have been in China since Tuesday morning

As a westerner with no ability to communicate its at least as bonkers as going to Japan or India, perhaps more so

I can not get over the scale of development. I spent 7 years in the richest country by GDP per capita who spent money like it grew on trees. China makes them look like amateurs

The problem is that China is destroying their environment and their historical buildings in a mad dash to build new roads and more concrete and glass. The cities are becoming ugly and they are all looking the same. In a few years, most of the new buildings will either fall down because of poor construction or will be rebuilt just because they want everything new.

Also, go to the rural areas of China and you'll see they are nowhere near as wealthy as they like to think.

I appreciate those points

I am in fact working in a place where the Chinese can not even persuade other Chinese to move. What they thought when they tried to persuade me to move..........

It's not poor but it is undesirable

I agree about the quality of construction but relative to the middle east its bullet proof

I think my point was more about urban middle class white collar workers. There are probably more of those alone in Beijing than all of the UK

It's the scale

On the money front. The first car I saw when I landed was a tesla............which says something as well

I figured as much, not everybody can travel to 50 or 100 countries or whatever (:

Even my Canada trip was disappointing, we went for the weekend a year or two ago to watch a bunch of rugby sevens, and I was sick the whole time. I need to go back and redeem myself (:

There is a definite bias to the poll. I think that folks who have traveled to fewer countries are far less likely to respond. I know a bunch of travelers who have been to almost every state, yet don't have passports.
