Rev3 St Andrews 70.3 - 2017 edition swim?
Was anyone there this year? I saw the swim was shortened to only 300m, what was the reason?

I was thinking of signing up for the 2018 race, if my running continues to progress.

Yes, I was. It was the right call, it was completely fogged in. They waited a while, and if anything I think it got worse. I suppose they could have waited another hour, but not sure how that would have affected the highway closure and all the other logistics.
Otherwise, its a great race at a beautiful location.

Welcome to the Maritimes!

it looks like that's the only time there's been fog for the race. I might take the chance then, I really don't want it to turn into a duathlon. If I sign up it won't be until the new year anyway.

Yup, I've been there for the race every year, and this was the first year this has happened. Heck, they even made the entire race happen the year the hurricane moved through the night before!

The organizers (Garth, etc) do a great job, along with all the volunteers from the town, and the staff at the host hotel.

It's a great venue and legit distance swim when they could easily just shorten it a bit and call it. Now that run up the hill from the water to T1 is fun...

I've never been down that way, but it looks nice.

If I can get my run and bike (but esp my run) to where it needs to be that might be my "travel" race for 2018 instead of Masters Nationals. I would shave down for Provincials instead...

That will likely be my shave and taper meet too. I'll pencil in the 50 fly.

I'll have to see what the meet schedule looks like, but I want to nail the 200 free and 100 fly. We'll see where the 50 falls. I have 2 good races in me per meet.

I may join you on the 200 free. I've decided on a random goal of setting the PEI provincial SC record for every event in M40-44. Most of them are fairly soft or have never been done so not a big deal. The exceptions being the 200-1500 free which were set by Wade James in 2005 - they are gonna be tough. I have this year and next to do it.
200 - 2:07.29
400 - 4:35.19
800 - 9:35.26
1500 - 18:38.32

I'll tell Wade that you're gunning for him! I'll probably see him Sunday night.
