One new tire - replace rear or front?
Long story short I'm getting one new GP4000. Another is not in the cards until next year.

The ones on my race wheels are not old (little wear indicator holes are still there) but they aren't new. I can replace one. Is there appreciable benefit as to which one gets replaced?

Only one race left, a hilly Olympic. Sprints and Olympics next year, if that matters.

Replace the front (for grip reasons) and put the old front one on the rear as it will have less wear than the old front.

My thoughts too. Rear tire is a little more flat in the middle (less rounded) for some reason, so that kills multiple birds.

Front for sure.

As the others said, replace the front. But, don't do it until right before the race - you'll lose the aero benefit.

I'd move existing front to rear and put new one on the front. This maximizes aero on the front and adds more tread depth for the rear.

Why do you want to change? I do not change any tires if they are still ok.
