To repair or buy

Ok, got a puncture today while riding. I ride latex tubes. Should I buy a new one or try to repair it? They're expensive so I'd like to avoid shelling out the cash for one. I'm racing IMMT so is it better to just take the pain?

I still lapped everyone on the couch!

I just repaired one last evening. It's quicker than patching butyl tubes and I've never had a patch fail on latex unlike a few over the years with butyl. I always use a circular piece cut from an old latex tube but know others use Rema patches effectively. There no need to buff latex, just clean it well with alcohol then apply cement to both tube and patch, wait from them to dry and press very firmly together.

On the other hand, in the grand scheme of things a new tube isn't that expensive. You ought to have a couple on hand anyway.
