Hi Twitchers,

Does anybody know of Rx sports eyeware where the design has something similar to the Smith Pivlock series? IOTWs, a frame design where there is no top bar frame piece.

Thanks!

You can have a Rx lens made for Oakleys. I've seen 'em.

These glasses all have framed top pieces. What I'm asking about may not exist.

Yes i have Oakley prescription sunglasses. I have used them for multiple races now. I ordered mine online from sportrx.com
They give you the option of their lenses or authentic oakley lenses.
I will highly recommend them -- they are a breeze to work with, easy to get a hold of on email or phone and get your questions answered.
My son also got his soccer goggles from them and has been using them for the past two seasons.
The techs are knowledgeable and will also recommend things based on usage, face type, etc.
They will also just make the lenses and send them to you, if they can reasonably find the shape of the frame that you want to put them into.
I am up for a change this year, and will order replacement lenses from them again this year

[no, i dont get anything for tooting their horn - just a really satisfied customer]

Rudy has always done a lot of Rx stuff and I don't think the cost is unreasonable. Find someone with a Rudy sponsorship and I think they are only like 50$

Hey Harshc,

Was thinking about getting Rx lenses for my Oakley Flak 2.0 (XL version) in transitions (for me, the most versatile)

I have single vision correction and there are just a ton of options, a few of which seem superfluous. Do you mind answering a few questions (if you know the answer)?

(1) Did you go for the Oakley version or the no frills Sport Rx?
(2) digital lenses?
(3) Anti reflective?
(4) Scratch Resistance Coating?
(5) Anti fog? (not sure if the anti-fog is on the outside or inside)
(5) If yes for any of the above, why?

Seems like you can easily double the price of single vision correction lenses if you go for all of the above (and it doesn't help that each option seems to have two levels - for example, Anti reflective and "super duper" anti reflective). Mostly curious if its just sales talk or if the lay person would notice the difference.

TIA!

Oakley Jawbone prescription lens are worn by this old guy. Work well and stay put on my face. I have progressive lens which cost more but work well-for me. Your sports glasses need to have separate left and right lens for this purpose. No one piece lens.

Preface -- mine were ordered almost two years ago and I am going through a lens replacement exercise since my lenses are a little scratched, and my prescription changed a tiny bit. I have single vision rx

(1) Did you go for the Oakley version or the no frills Sport Rx? -> i went for the oakley version because I liked the look of the iridium mirror coating, and back then SportRx could only try and get close to it. This time around, I might still stick with the oakley version.
(2) digital lenses? -> no - i didnt go digital. Though I have been told that based on details of the Rx (astimagtism, or other things) digital might be better in terms of getting the most accurate curvature for the wraparound.
(3) Anti reflective? - the last time i didnt specifically pick anti-reflective, but the combination of Polarized + Iridium gave me anti reflective. (from their site: Premium Anti-Reflective is included on the back-side of all of our mirror finishes.)
(4) Scratch Resistance Coating? - i opted out, but in hindsight might have been useful
(5) Anti fog? (not sure if the anti-fog is on the outside or inside) - i opted out on this. The HalfJacket is open at the bottom and there is plenty of air circulation around unlike other frames, so i havent had any issues with fogging.
(5) If yes for any of the above, why?

This was my order from 2015

Single Vision
Polarized
Clear to Emerald Iridium Transitions
