My garage floor. Only students have bikes in the house (plus I'd overheat).

Somewhat convoluted system; from bottom to top:

Large fairly thin rubber mat similar to the cyclops one
6x2 section of cork subflooring
6x2 section of plywood
6x2 ish carpet scrap
rollers
Why so many layers?

I use an old bed sheet. It's actually works really well and I can extend it out behind the bike to catch any slinging rubber/ grease. My wife is actually more concerned with that than sweat. For sweat I have two hand towels over the handlebar and top bar. It kinda acts like those fancy little sweat gards thet you can buy... that are totally over priced and necessary. Kinda like trainer tires lol

Sound isolation so that I don't wake up my roommates (or my neighbors) when I'm riding at 6 in the morning.

I went to my local big box hardware store where they sell plastic matting by the foot. It is clear and has little plastic anti slip nubs on the bottom side and can used to cover carpet in high traffic areas. I got six feet of that and it works great under my bike.

Same here - cheap, durable, easy to clean.

This! My trainer isn't bad (because the cassette is nice and clean), but when I'm on rollers, my chain and cassette likes to fling stuff around a bit.
