Got the email. $780.00 is more than I want to spend on that race + travel and all the other expenses. Not registering.

Wait, did the price actually go up again from last year??

Does it come with a happy ending now, or how are people justifying paying this?

Race is $750.00 plus $37.50 in processing fees = $787.50 to register with a current USAT membership, which I have.

I don't know what the price was last year.

The statement that everyone got in last year is false. I was in the lottery and did not. They even ran a waitlist. I would expect them to easily hit their target number this year on participants, and this race remains a bucket list race. SF Tri at Alcatraz is unfortunately a no go for the foreseeable future due to the Tri Cal hiatus, so this is now the only race in town...

I entered I think for the 3rd year in a row and did not get in.

A couple of years back, I would have done it for sure, I still enter with it being an outside possibility as i never seem to get drawn, but realistically, I would have declined this year as it doesn't fit into the training and race plans and the price is just out of control now.

"Way back when" (mid-90s) I did this race--the Envirosports version, anyway, which at the time was the only one IIRC--and I believe it cost right around $200 or so. Now, a really good TV ran about $2500, so there was that...
