Fast group ride in San Francisco
I'm fairly new to San Francisco and want to find an active cycling group. I see Meetup.com has some rides but they're all lower speed rides. Also a local shop has group rides, but I noticed their avg speed is ~16mph, which I don't think will be challenging. Is there a website to find local groups or clubs that do lots of group rides? I see there is a group about an hour south of me (too far to join) that does rides every day.
Thanks!

1) Change the thread title on this to "Fast group ride in San Francisco"
2) Wait for responses
3) If nobody responds and it falls to the third page, reply to it with the word "bump"

You're welcome

I live down south in Menlo Park and work in SF. I assume the group ride you are talking about is "the noon ride". Those guys (and gals) are fast. Rode with them a few times when I worked in Palo Alto and my schedule permitted. Got dropped every time. Sounds like just what you are looking for and may be worth the trip.

There are also some groups/teams that ride in the North Bay - I know a few guys on this team and I'm not sure if their group rides are open to all, but could be worth looking into: http://thirstybearcycling.com/team-rides/.

The vast majority of Bay area riding has lots of climbing, so don't be fooled by 16mph average speeds. My ride this morning was 14.7mph with 226W NP.

That is a great point. I don't think I have averaged more than 18 mph on a training ride in the 12 months I've lived out here.

Ah yes, the noon ride aka get hammered by Cat 1s and former pros ;).

If you can get down the Peninsula, there is also the Peninsula Velo club ride 6:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays leaving from Canada Road right at 92. Probably have to be Cat III level to not get popped at some point on the loop.
