I'm just now reading over last week's thread. MistressK, I'm glad your ankle is getting better. Rock climbing is so much fun.
Tri3, hope you're feeling better.

Goals this week:
4 swims --- nope, but rode more than planned!
2 rides --- three, and bike miles greater than run miles for the week!
day off from running --- done!

I swam a little over 1000 yds; ran 39.5 miles with a nice tempo run; and rode 3x for 48+ miles.

This is a busy week... baby shower week!!!!! I am so excited.
Goals: 4 swims, day off from running, at least 2 rides, and no food issues.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

Oooh you will have to report back on the baby shower!

My last week looked like this:
M: swim + run (overheated and felt unwell so cut short)
T: bike + mobility and stretching
W: swim + run (outdoors!)
Th: bike
Fr: swim + run (indoor track!)
S: rest shovelled a LOT of snow
S: bike + strength we got a new board game so spent three hours learning how to play that instead; we were also supposed to go out for dinner but the friend in question broke his ankle so we spent some time hanging out at the hospital instead.

The plan for this week:
M: swim + run (both done)
T: bike + strength
W: swim + run
Th: bike + strength
F: swim + bike/run brick
S: rest
S: bike
I'm trying to be better about doing pre-run activation and some foam rolling at night before bed.

Hello Womens and thanks for getting us started Dr. Tigerchik.

I'm back from my racecation and all in one piece. The race was the weirdest thing I've ever done -- carrying chickens, climbing coconut trees, hacking land with machetes, chopping wood ... While we made it further than the majority of competitors, we still DNF'ed after missing a surprise time hack at the top of the second volcano climb after half a day of racing. Leading up to the race I did some easy swimming and running and after the race I did some easy swimming and biking. My bod held up reasonably well with my only really trouble on the steep, muddy downhill sections.

And that's the end of my offseason -- I'm now mostly recovered and looking forward to some poultry-free training. I plan to swim 3 times, ride 3 times, run 3 times, do PT twice, and yoga once.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Is it Monday again? Last week: work, work, work. Only 73.5 hours last week. I did manage to get 5 workouts in. Swim x 3 + Bike x 2. No running to get rid of my ski niggle, which is finally subsiding. Back to work. 42 days left of this madness. Rock on, Women!

SCT, sorry about the DNF - sounds like a crazy race! I smiled at the chicken carrying; my parents have chickens.

Dr. Tigerchik, thanks. It's my first DNF but I'm not upset -- I had a lot of fun way out of my comfort zone and the race has a less than 5% finisher rate.

I'm a farm kid so the chickens were one of my favorite parts :)

I saw your pictures and am in awe. I would have no clue how to deal with chickens - that seems nuts.

Just as I started feeling a little better, all kinds of crap happened:
-Tuesday, fridge is acting up
-Wednesday, fridge/freezer die. New one cannot be delivered for eight days. Pull out the coolers and get ice.
-Thursday, headed out of state to pick up a popup camper. Get it set up at an rv park near the dealer, and the high winds hit. Gusts in excess of 70 mph. I'm making contingency plans in case the camper makes like Dorothy and takes off for Oz. In the meantime, back home winds have knocked down trees everywhere. Power is out.
-Friday, I can't head home because it would be dangerous to tow the camper in the high winds. Power is still out at home anyway.
-Saturday, sometime overnight the heater in the camper stopped working. It is 27 degrees inside when I wake up. Head back to the rv dealer. Heater can't be fixed there. Camper has to go back to the factory. I leave the rv dealer with a significantly lighter wallet, and nothing to show for it. Get home and the power is still out. Hubby hasn't had a shower in days and is just a tad grumpy.
-Sunday, still no estimate on when power will be back on. I head to Y for some runs and to get a shower.
-Monday, to escape the dark zone, hubby heads to library and me to the Y. Power finally comes back on in the evening. We've still got a two day wait for the new fridge though, so we keep the coolers and ice going.

And that ladies, is why I am now seven runs behind on the 100/100. With 18 days left, it's going to be close.

No coasting in running and no crying in baseball

Holy smokes - hope everything comes together for you soon Tri3! Be safe and stay warm.

Pretty balanced last week: 2 trainer rides, 2 swims, 3 climbing sessions on top of my usual 4 x weights and 7 x ankle rehab. The rehab exercises, since I've upped reps and added in stuff to help with identified weaknesses, take almost half an hour just on their own.

Climbing 1.5hrs (9 routes) on Friday, 2.5hrs (20 routes) on Sunday and another 2hrs on Tuesday (17 routes) may have been bit much for 5 days: my middle and ring fingers on my right hand have some soreness that feels like pulley strain, so I'm taking a few days to rest before we go back for the last day of our 2 week trial membership on Saturday. Stupid weak tendons everywhere!

Ankle is definitely getting much stronger, and with the way 1-leg squats are feeling and the fact I was able to do 4 consecutive 1-foot hops today, I have high hopes for trying a short run on Saturday. Like, REALLY short - I'm aiming for 5min, with my maximum being a mile even if it feels great.

Fingers crossed..
