Cultural Mystery- Explain this
I went to Guatemala over Christmas.
Someone asked me what it was like.

I said, “ I imagine it is a bit like the mountains of southern China, Laos, Vietnam.”
They looked at me like I was crazy.

I tried to prove my sanity. I came across these images. Which is Hmong?
Which is Guatemala?

Anyone care to comment.

The church did give it away, along with the garments in the top photo which look very sherpa-like.

Plus, they look Asian and the others don't.

What do you have a PhD in traditional women’s clothing or something?

The Hmong women are probably all from the same village. The Guatemalan women present a collage of different villages and tribal clothes.

My brother has the following theory:
1) The human mind can remember x number of people.
2) The world contains x + 1 people.
(These people are continuously making small modifications in their appearance so that you don’t catch on).

Perhaps something like that is going on.

The better explanation is that there are some confluent circumstances that Guatemalan and Hmong share: ancient cultures, mountain enclaves, surrounding lowland jungles

But still...

Maybe he just likes to dress up his German sex robot in traditional Hmong women's clothing.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

People seem to think that they are getting the better of the machines.
But they are wrong.

I say to hell with the sex robots.

Some robot wants to have sex with me... it is gonna have to pay.

I stayed in a few villages in Guatemala and also stayed briefly in the northern hills of Thailand where they have Hmong tribes.

I'd say you are accurate in suggesting there are similarities.

Can't tell the difference. They both look like shitholes to me.

I'm kidding, just couldn't pass it up in light of the other thread.

So we all could tell the difference, but I think the pictures helped your larger point (if you still care).
