Wheel Sanity Check
I have a set of FLO30 wheels and I'm considering buying a new PowerTap G3 Hub from Probikekit.com for $498. This should be able to be laced into my existing wheel, correct? The wheels have about 1,000 miles on them. I plan on using my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt with it. It'll be my first power meter.
Just making sure I'm not missing something here.

Thanks,
Ryan

As long as the spoke drilling (number of spokes) matches it should work. You will almost certainly need new spokes/nipples in the correct length. Even if the hub had identical dimensions, it is best practices to build with new spokes and nipples.

I'm fairly certain you'll need different length spokes. Rather than deconstructing your existing wheel, it might make more sense to buy a rim from Flo and have a new wheel built up around your Powertap hub. Then you can either keep, sell, or give a friend your old wheel.

+1 to this. The Flo 30 rim is just $80, while a complete wheel is $275. So, your existing wheel is probably worth a lot more than $80 used. So, it would be a great backup and allow you to avoid interruption while building up the new setup.

I put a PT in my Flo 60, but the rim went south and I put the PT in another wheel. I have a set of 24 of the Sapims sitting in my basement. If you are interested, check with Flo to see if the ERD is the same for both rims. I will send you spokes for 10$ + shipping , which will cover my hassle and a couple beers.

You've all made great points. It sounds like my best bet is to buy the $80 rim from FLO and buy spokes (possibly from a member here^ ) and having the powertap built into the wheel.
