Need help with nutrients tracking
Greetings ladies :)
Given the fact that I recently had a baby, I am trying to get back in shape and start running again. Just like most of the women, I'm struggling to lose that baby weight. A few years ago I was on keto and carb cycling diet, and my results were fantastic. However, now I have problems with motivation. How do you keep yourselves motivated and also how do you count your calories and nutrients? Do you use some online software like keto calculator or something similar, or do you use an app such as MyFitnessPal? Currently I am not in a situation where I can pay a personal coach or a nutritionist to help me create a diet plan, so I want to do it myself. Correction, I HAVE TO do it by myself. Basically, I know what I have to eat, but I need help with the amount of proteins, carbs, fats...
Kindest regards,
Sam.

I used and had success with the online version of Weight Watchers after each of my three children. I dislike group stuff, so WW online was perfect for me and I reached my goal weight within 3 months. I also like the software that comes with the Fitbit if you have one of those or were thinking about getting one.

Just remember not to rush weight loss with a new baby! I rushed to back into shape after my second son and found myself very stressed out and unhappy. I'd love to go back and do it again--I'd spend more time with Greg and less time worrying about being fit. Just my two cents!

Congrats on the new baby and good luck :)

I use MyFitnessPal, religiously (639 day streak as of today). I pay for the premium version because I wanted to have the ability to manipulate my macros by gram - I am a Type 2 diabetic with Hashimoto's, so carb control is important to me too. Premium runs me a whomping $50 a year, and is worth every cent of that in my mind.

Other people like SparkPeople, although I prefer MFP's interface personally. I've heard a good number of people talk about LoseIt, but I've not tried it.

I don't know who you get your health insurance through, but United Healthcare have a program called Real Appeal. It's a year-long program with weekly online "group" sessions (think lecture rather than therapy!), that really goes back to the basics of what we all know but sometimes need to be reminded of.

Motivation? Ah, that's a toughie. I sign up for things. That makes me motivated to exercise, which in turn at least helps me not gain weight. Between illnesses and medications my body is not terribly cooperative about losing weight, so I try to focus on the "what I can do" aspects rather than the "what does my scale say" ones, otherwise I'd cry a lot more. That may or may not be an acceptable paradigm shift for you.

Congratulations on the baby!!

First off be kind to yourself, which can be hard. I have to remind myself of this often, as I just wish the baby weight would melt off me - (my daughter is 7 months old), but after 4 kids I know that just isn't going to happen. Even nursing, or rather, BECAUSE I'm nursing, I have to be very careful about trying to lose weight. If I restrict too many calories, my milk supply tanks, and as it is, I have just enough for her (there's no stash of frozen milk in my frezer). I have held onto 20 pounds of baby weight with each of my first 3 kids until I weaned them, and it looks like I'm on track to do the same with her. After they weaned, I'd lose the 20 in 2-3 months. It's just hard to still be chunky for 12-18 months after baby is born.

That being said, I love the Weight Watchers app. It asks if you are exclusively breastfeeding or breastfeeding with solid foods and adjusts points accordingly. That helps if you are nursing. Nursing or not you get your daily points and away you go. You can enter your recipes, scan bar codes of popular foods (both healthy and junk foods) and keep track of your day. You can add exercise, and you get bonus points. If your losing too fast, you can adjust your points and if your not losing you can adjust points. The app keeps me honest. But I'll be honest and say I don't use it while nursing very often because of my supply issues. But once the kid is weaned I'm all about it! It's about $20/month and you can cancel whenever. They keep your profile stored so if you ever go back, your recipes and favorite foods are still there.

Good luck and be kind to yourself!!

Thaks everyone :) My weight loss is going great :) However, I had some issues with basal metabolic rate calculator . It say my BMR is 1688 (I'm 171cm tall and I weigh 70kg). 1688 seems a lot to me don't you think? Which app can I use to double-check the results?

Actually, if you are approximately height/weight proportionate, then you can take your weight in pounds (154 according to you) and add a zero. That would give you 1,540 calories as your guesstimated BMR.

All these numbers are just that, guesses. Nobody knows the exact number of calories in every carrot until it is burned in a bomb calorimeter, so don't get too caught up in a calorie here or there. Your menstrual cycle, exercise regimen, daily hydration levels, etc. will all have a great impact on your daily weight as well.

Weigh yourself daily on a bluetooth-enabled scale so that you can see your results over a week, month, or year. With new technology, studies have found that people who weigh daily as a weight-loss method end up being 13 lbs lighter at the end of the year as compared to people who don't.

Knowledge is power ;-)
