Paddle auction
So I am watching this paddle auction online (bid on one, have since been outbid. Stupid auctions...). Anyway, it's interesting (to me anyway) which ones are getting high bids and which are getting no action at all.

Some are obvious but some I think look like crap have people willing to pay decent money for, while some that I think look ok have no action.

This one is awesome. But I am not paying $170 for it.

And no, I have no bid on any of the moose themed paddles...

I think they maybe have too many paddles in the auction diluting the price. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

There are definitely too many. And some look like they are done by kids.

Lots of wannabe artists out there.

I don't think it's paddle collecting so much as it's looking for art in different forms. There are a few paddles that really capture the style of Tom Thompson. Adding his style onto a paddle (Thompson died whilst canoeing) seems apt.

Of course, all of this would likely mean nothing to you if you don't know who Thompson is or who the Group of Seven are. And if you are American then you likely don't have a clue who they are.

OK, thx for the background. Let me rephrase...I had no idea paddle art was a thing. :+)

Not really banging on it, as I'm a big kayak fisherman.

I am not so sure it's a thing. I just saw this and thought it looked neat. Thought I'd share because, well, everyone is tired of trump threads.

Weren't they the ones that discovered the AllSpark cube that gives life to the transformers?
