Any New Bike Releases Rumored for Kona?
Looking for a new triathlon bike for next season and am curious what, if any, new bikes are rumored to be coming out soon.

1. Trek Speed Concept: As per the Trek 2018 thread, it seems curious that there is a 2018 mid-range Speed Concept on the website but no high-end model.

2. Canyon USA Release: Bueller?

3. Cervelo P2/P3/P5 Update: Any one hear of a P5X trickle down update to the rest of the line?

4. Specialized Shiv: Similar to Trek, there are only mid-range models on the website and an S-Works frame set.

5. Anything Else?

A release date for the Cube we saw last year would be nice.

Supposedly the Super Slice goes on sale later this month (from a SRAM rep I'm friendly with... I'm just assuming he knows)

No new Shiv for 2018, but there are some cool new color ways coming in Sept.

Not sure about Kona vs interbike, but talking to a LBS guy today, he said he heard at least one top, if not more, will be introducing models with disc brakes soon about maybe the 5K price point. Yea, maybe I will get to buy a new one for next season.

Just keep waiting. I have an old P2 as well and I'm not buying another bike until more disc brake bikes come out.

I would think all the people who are crazy enough to think that riding a TT bike for 112 miles,... before running a marathon (emphasis on crazy) would be all over a Speed Concept with the IsoSpeed decouplers.

Just stating the obvious, but all my predictions of a new Shiv have been wrong for years! Shiv 2018 makes its first appearance at Tour de Suisse (same prediction since 2015).

I told the guys at Canyon this during the Pure Festival back in the Spring. I would be buying a new tt ride early next year. If the Speedmax had discs, they'd get my money. If not, I'll likely pick up a Parlee. Simple as that

anything new coming out won't be any faster than the bikes out now or 5 or 10 years ago.

spend it on something else that will make you go faster.

Parlee is a great looking bike, but loaded up you are well over 10K. Too much for my budget

But it will make me stop faster. :)

Since my disc wheel just went back, I need to buy a new rear race wheel. Would I buy another 10 speed wheel? Nope.
Why would I buy something this is old stuff, meaning a wheel that is not a disc brake.

I hear the P2/P3's from Cervelo have been totally sold out of their stock. So, something new is coming to replace this inventory.
Is it just the newest mechanical group? Or, something else?

Guess we will know shortly from many mfg's. I still have heard Felt is coming out with one for 2018 with disc brakes

Exactly. Just let your competition waste their cash and watch them go backwards in the process. Bonus if you buy their old kit on the cheap.

Quite.

Just fitted a used Ventus II to my used P3C at the weekend to go with the used Dura Ace/Ultegra components : lovely.

Shame I had to pay full price for the Omega-X on the front.

Not even the bike pro's will use them when it matters: why wasn't Uran using the disc equipped Super Slice in the most important TT of his life a few weeks ago? I'm sure he had to brake somewhere.

I had completely forgotten about the Parlee TTR. Looks like a really nice option if you want a disc brake bike. Pricing is what it is I guess. Looks like about 6k for a complete Ultegra mech bike with training wheels.

Which is why it's obvious that disc brakes are the next area of focus for bikes. The ability to make bikes faster is hitting a wall. So instead of chasing 1% marginal gains, why not focus on braking, storage integration, and other things besides just aero?

You can fight, argue, whine, and complain, but disc brakes are coming and you will be left behind.

It's a good looking bike, I'll give it that. Keep in mind though it's fairly high stack/short reach.

Does it depend on how you read the chart?

My medium SC has stack 51.7, reach 40.8

Medium parlee is stack 50.5, reach 40.7. So for the equivalent reach, the stack is quite a bit lower.

I'm actually better fit to their M\L stack of 53, but the 42.9 reach on that one is a little long for me...

I agree, it was my favourite Kona new bike last year. The BMC was 2nd.

Would still love to see a new TT specific Cervelo perhaps based on the GB track bike, but with provision for an aero- neutral UCI legal bottle.

Have heard the Trinity's down tube bottle is aero neutral but that a tacx / elite Crono bottle on a P5 adds a Small amount of drag.

One of the things I'm going to test at A2 later this year is the Giant's bottle on the Speed Concept's down tube.

So it looks like the Canyon USA site went live yesterday, but the price of the Canyon Speedmax 7.0 went from $1999 to $2499 overnight. Still a good deal?

https://www.canyon.com/en-us/triathlon/speedmax/speedmax-cf-7-0

And although the site is live, the bikes still aren't 'available' to order...also, anyone here have a link to any wind tunnel testing of the Speedmax?

At this point, I'm really hoping for an update to the Cervelo P2/P3 lineup with some P5X trickle down tech, but I'm guessing that is a long shot.
