"Bib Mailing" or day before IM check in at Maryland
Quote | Reply
Browsing through the IM Maryland race package and I noticed this tidbit:

BIB MAILING ATHLETES If you purchased the “bib mailing” option and will be arriving in Cambridge on Friday, you should come directly to Great Marsh Park to complete check-in and rack your bike between 10 AM and 1 PM. You should bring both your bike and run gear bags with you. Remember to affix the appropriate label to your bike. Before you enter transition, you will be required to complete check-in. Please bring the following: • Photo ID • USAT card or $15 to purchase a one-day license • Completed waiver forms from your package Once you have your documents checked you will be given your wristband and timing chip and will proceed into transition. After racking your bike you can head to IRONMAN Village to collect your backpack from the Official IRONMAN Store.

I have never seen this option before to pay to check in the day before the race, has anyone else? How much does it cost?

I've never seen that for an IM. Many of our local races had a similar option for race morning pickup. In fact, it got to the point that I wouldn't consider most races unless they had it. I'm in far north Houston and doing packet pickup before race day was often a 2.5 hour ordeal with the distance, traffic and waiting in line.

Bumping my own thread, thinking about Maryland again this year and wondering if anyone did the bib mail in last year?

I've done it for this year. it was $30 iirc and seems totally worth it. I'll still get there Thursday afternoon/evening but won't have to worry about scrambling to check in on time, especially if there's any travel delays.

I did it last year - paid $30 and was able to drive down the day before and pick up my stuff / turn in my waivers while I did bike check-in. It was great and meant I didn't need an extra day off work or an extra night in a hotel. FYI, the packet pickup for bib mailing is (was) literally right outside transition. I wish every race did this.

I paid for that as well this year at Maryland even though it seems like I may end up down there Thursday anyways. I'm so f****** stoked when can we start Ironman Maryland roll call
