What kind of jerk does such a thing?! She came really close to death from the looks of it. Good thing the bus driver was paying attention and managed to stop!

I hope he is caught! He acted the the school bully who feels the need to hit shoulders with everyone in the hallway. I think he will have a hard time coming up with a reasonable excuse.

Should you be running against traffic, even on the sidewalk?

I hope the next time he does that, someone does something like this to him

Yeah, people are easily biased so it takes only one instance like this for many to decide all runners are jerks.

Just playing devil's advocate here to stop the lynch-mob madness... She was walking and looking down at her phone and in his way...

Wait, nevermind. She was just walking along and He actually ran out of his way to shoulder her into traffic. Time to look at why somebody would want her dead. Angry Ex? Insurance payout? Looks like a murder attempt that didn't go right.

Except that he turned around and ran back later? Like he was just running his regular route? This is really weird. Somebody doing that on purpose would keep running and even hop in a car to get away.

And he didn't exactly shove her in front of a bus. He knocked her down and there happened to be a bus coming up from behind him. He didn't necessarily know it was there. He could be just an asshole level 9, not asshole level 11.

I thought the same thing since he seemed to go out of his way to shove her. All I could picture was the meeting in a booth in some seedy bar paying this guy to do it.

The running back on the other side is so bizarre.

Also notice that he didn't make the same move on the big guy he ran by just beforehand, who was just about in the same line [judging by the shadow on the sidewalk]

For fucks sake...wtf is wrong with people?

For one thing, I do believe there is an argument that he threw her in front of a bus. This action was deliberate, not none of this "I'm holding my line and lets play chicken" bullshit. He went into her, then extended both arms after making contact. And yes, it was a BUS LANE that he was running next to. The footage, I'm guessing, came from another bus in front of him with a rear facing camera, during a time where there seemed to be heavy traffic in all other lanes. One should be able to infer that if you throw someone into a busy street, you are indeed throwing them in front of a vehicle. Just because you didn't look back and see the vehicle, doesn't excuse you.

The fact that he chose to do this to a woman, and not the guy in front just blows my mind. Makes me think he knew her or had some type of gripe with her in the past. If that's the case, then there is a level of motive and premeditation. In which case he needs to be locked up and the key thrown away.

Well, the incident is being reported as happening on May 5th. So it's been 3 months, but only now the video was released? Not sure why it has taken so long.

It was most likely being used as evidence in the case: Evidence that is publicly released prior to a jury selection nullifies the evidence. It allows the jury goes into the trial with a bias.

Most videos like this are not able to be released until the case is over.

Guys are pretty hard-wired, imo, to protect women. Doing this sort of thing is so damned evil that I shake my head with wonder. And it's all the more tragic that the guy didn't immediately get his ass beat by concerned citizens.

Watching the video...I can't figure out why he did it. It looks like he ran out of his way to do it.

I think he was trying to show the lady that she was in his way so he purposefully ran into her shoulders. I see people do that to try and get people to look up from their cell phones and walk with their heads up. She was walking fine and he clearly went out of his way to hit her. I doubt he had any intention of knocking her into the bus lane but he clearly wanted her to clear a path for him.

He is an ass.

1. I'm estimating the path was about 12' wide.
2. Dude was running almost right down the center of the path. Why? He had several feet of room to his left.
3. She appeared to be moving to her left and out of his way.
4. He definitely made a move to his right and more into her path to purposely hit her.
5. Not sure why people think she was looking down at her phone. Her head is up and looking straight forward. Definitely no phone in her left hand and if you watch some of the slo-mo close up videos on the 'net about this incident you can see what appears to be her right arm swinging down by her side.
6. That bus driver really deserves some kind of accolades because their catlike reaction is the only reason that woman is alive.
7. That runner is a straight up dick and deserves whatever is coming to him.

Interesting. If he indeed has "irrefutable proof" that he wasn't even in the country then the police will be back to square one. It makes you wonder what evidence the police had to take him in for questioning...hopefully something more than people saying, hey, that guy looks like so and so.

I do hope they catch the real perp. This story isn't over until they actually have a conviction ... for which everyone will want to know what the exact charges are.

Article says he's denying it was him, so I'm assuming that's why he hasn't been charged. Police may not have enough actual evidence to prove it was him before charges can be made. Given that the only evidence released to the public is a crappy video...I suppose any lawyer would advise their client to deny it was them as well.

That said...this is 2017...why do non HD video cameras still exist?

Per Telegraph - Man is 50, named, not charged, claims to have irrefutable evidence he wasn't even in the country at the time.

Ok...semantics, but isn't that the same thing? His lawyer seems to think so...

“Our client has been wrongly implicated in this matter; he categorically denies being the individual concerned and has irrefutable proof that he was in the United States at the time of the incident. "

I agree though that if he has evidence, it shouldn't take long to produce.

Yes, semantics. I was only trying to point out that his denial is much greater than just "that's not me". Also, since you can see from my other post just above yours, that another guy was arrested - and also released without charge - I am inferring that police are just rounding up every guy that the public suggests both runs and looks somewhat like the guy in the hazy video. Then they bring them in for questioning and the dude says - nope, not me, and out the door they go. It will be difficult to find the right guy, and even more difficult to pin a charge that sticks.

Whoever this was, him or someone else, was probably not a Londoner. They are the most patient group of people on the planet. Everyone queues up and waits their turn. No one loses their cool.

If this happened in say Paris then it would not be surprising. Half that city are made up of assholes. But in London? I don't believe it. That jogger (HAHA!) was not from London.

On her second attempt, the girl who tried to kill me [twice] ran her Beetle up onto the sidewalk behind me as I was running. She missed and crashed her car into the front of a store

Later, she claimed that she was distracted by her kids fighting in the back seat

LOL,
I also thought that my crazy female neighbor had it for me....she appeared to try her best to run me over with her car on three separate occasions.
After watching her a couple times out and about, it turned out that she is just a really bad, distracted, confused person who probably shouldn't be driving.
One time she drove off (more like launched) with an open tailgate, dumping the entire contents of her trunk into the street.

Looks like that fellow was trying to teach her a lesson for walking down the middle of the sidewalk....

Or maybe his female boss / wife had walked over him an hour before?

Lot's of people with mental problems out there.
Heads Up!

Pretty poor policing I am afraid. In the UK any evidence collected before someone is read their rights is inadmissible. Normally they have done due diligence and proper investigations beforehand this is just shocking standards. They could have checked freely available records and ruled him out.

As soon as he was arrested he would have said I want my solicitor so a lot of the time in custody would have been waiting for his solicitor. Still shocking police work though.

The British police plastered this guy's face on every newspaper in the country, publicly named him, publicly mentioned where he worked and even mentioned where they arrested him (near where he lives) without even checking if he was in the country at the time? That's completely unacceptable. It's outrageous. Can he sue in the UK?

The press likely wouldn't have known anything without the police leaking details.
