"Senator Kid Rock": Everything You Need to Know About His Politics
Quote | Reply
Mr. American Badass, of the state of Michigan, is contemplating a run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Debbie Stabenow, who's up for reelection in 2018. The hopeful "Senator Kid Rock" would run as a Republican, that much is certain, given his past statements on various positions and his past endorsement of Mitt Romney in 2012 and other utterances he's made since. He also counts himself a friend of Donald Trump.

Rolling Stone magazine breaks down where he's at on various issues. Other than that I find this whole thing entertaining -- because Kid Rock is first and foremost a GREAT entertainer and musician -- I have no opinions on the matter and I'm staying away from politics. Even the stuff as funny as this would be. I also had no idea he was an ordained minister. So you-all get to discuss religion AND politics on this one, both of which seem to still be staples of the Lavender Room Lifestyle(tm). ;-)

On Gun Control

“Getting rid of them is not the answer. The guy who got Osama bin Laden was on Fox News. His daddy raised him in Montana, hunting, fishing. He got it from hunting. What that kid knows is fucking valuable. Shooting 200 yards is hard. To be able to make 1,000-yard shots? I’m glad we have some people like that on our side.” – Rolling Stone, February 2015

On Gay Marriage and Abortion

“I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues. I am no fan of abortion, but it’s not up to a man to tell a woman what to do. As an ordained minister I don’t look forward to marrying gay people, but I’m not opposed to it.” – The Guardian, January 2015

I'd guess that his views as written in your post are actually pretty mainstream.

I know a ton Republicans who agree with him on those topics.

Who knew he was an ordained minister?

Has any minister been forced by the govt. to marry gay people?

I don't post "political red meat." It's just that there's almost no subject nowadays that isn't politicized by one side or the other. Have I jumped into all those "Smoke," "More Smoke," "Trump" and "Trump Jr." threads? ;-)

Hey, I don't write the headlines. I just report on 'em LOL!

With this platform how can he go wrong?

Bawitdaba da bang da bang diggy diggy diggy. Shake the boogie said up jump the boogie.

And when he gets stumped, no Sarah Palin deer in headlights deal. He takes on taxes, law enforcement reform, opioid crisis
And this is for the questions that don't have an answer, he midnight glancers, and the topless dancers, the can of freaks, cars packed with speakers, the G's with the forty's and the chicks with beepers, the northern lights and the Southern Comfort, and it don't even matter if your veins are punctured. All the crackheads, the critics, the cynics, and all my heroes at the methadone clinics All you bastards at the I.R.S. For the crooked cops and the cluttered desks, for the shots of Jack and the caps of meth, half pints of love and a fifth of stress, all the hookers that are tricking out in Hollywood, and for my hoods of the world misunderstood.

I said it's all good and it's all in fun. Now get in the pit and try to love someone

For gangs and illegal immigration, federal land use, prison reform, and hunger in America - as well as a shout out to a 70's fugitive

All the gangs gettin' money and the heads they bang - bang, wild mustangs, the porno flicks, all my homies in the county in cell block six, the grits when there ain't enough eggs to cook, and to D.B. Cooper and the money he took

You can look for answers but that ain't fun. Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

So to summarize:
Bawitdaba da bang da bang diggy diggy diggy. Shake the boogie said up jump the boogie. And it's all in fun. But answers aren't fun so don't look, now get in the pit and try to love someone.

This actually may be more coherent than some of the shit Spicer and Huckabee-Sanders has to say.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

No, I'm sincerely trying not to troll or fool around in all those politics (or religion) threads. What's the point in all that? And life's too short at any rate.

Like I said; everything's become so politicized these days there's almost nothing that can't be turned towards politics, unfortunately.

Two bad choices. At least one potential choice for us could be someone entertaining and who has lived an actual life with relatability to lower & middle class humans.

Dear god, I can't believe it's come to this and that I'd say that about his potential candidacy. 2016 was a death knell to normalcy.

Sorry, but I have to drop off this thread. It's treading dangerously close to a full-on discussion of politics, and I've sworn that off. Keeps me from getting ulcers, you see. LOL!

I think maybe everyone who wants to seek higher office should not be considered qualified until they have done a stint on their local town council or maybe school board. At least then they would know getting stuff done is hard.

It's funny, I always picked him growing up poor like Eminem. The pride of the trailer park, and all that.

The truth is like that, but the total opposite:

http://www.freep.com/...unty-house/93299716/

"Kid Rock’s ancestral seat includes a 5,628-square-foot house (that has a 1,811-square-foot lower level) with indoor Jacuzzi room and a giant fireplace, as well as a large guest house, two garages that accommodate a total of five cars, and the apple orchard where Kid Rock has told biographers he once picked the red fruit."

I thought his whole thing or at least what he started out as was being a "white trash" rocker, wasn't one of the lines from his hit song "...straight out of the trailer..."?

Good question. That's the impression I always got, but I also only know one song of his, don't even know the name or more than a couple of lyrics. I'm sure I've heard more and would recognize them. It definitely seems that he's done a bang up job marketing himself to and appealing to people in that extreme blue collar & proudly white trash group. My mind is still blown that I was so wrong about his background, head imploded.

Honestly, if more people actually had the cajones to vote their conscience instead of being idiots and voting for the two parties that continue to screw us, we'd elect some third party candidates. The majority of voters unfortunately bitch a loud game, but cower when they hit the booth, only to continue complaining the moment they emerge.

They fall back into their comfort zone. Psychologically, they seek the safety of the herd and they want their votes to "count." Not everyone, of course, but many. I used to be that way -- and I'd almost reflexively and vociferously defend the politicians, and the party to which they belonged, no matter what. Some of the long-timers here can vouch for that.

Also, at least in this room, I saw it as an opportunity to throw some bombs and troll of few people. My motto was "I'm not happy 'til you're not happy." That kind of blew up in my face on several occasions, including the election of 2012. ;-)

I have a feeling you love this but are fighting it. You are going through a phase. You are a Republican to your core but you went too far for a minute and have taken the false road of Libertarianism to heal but this kind of stuff is in your blood. Breitbart doesn't leave your soul once it's in. When you see Kid and Trump standing next to each other holding each other's hands above their heads you will get back into the swing of things. In 2020 you will excited you can stay as Trump wins a second term.

I said nice things about Andrew Breitbart. Right after he died. I don't think that the Breitbart website was up at the time. The Big Government/Big Hollywood ones were, if I remember correctly.

At any rate, he had the right idea about holding our government accountable. The problem is, both major political parties actually like big, intrusive government. It's just a matter of degree, and how they get to that end goal, all while mouthing platitudes to the proles.
