'Hard' Sided Bento Boxes - Torhans / Profile Design etc ...

Has the development of these items moved on a little ?

I understand the first generations were a little hard to get stuff in and out past the flaps ? Has this improved or are they still difficult ?

I really like the idea of the hard style bentos but they won’t be much use to me if I can’t get bits of flap jack in and out without reducing them to crumbs … :-(

Thanks in advance for any responses :-)

WD :-)

Easier to get out means easier to launch. My hard box on the Speed Concept will launch gels on really, really big bumps.

Can you provide an ETA? Just asking because "...in the next few weeks" is worlds different than "at Kona," especially for those preparing for fall races. Thanks!

Well I just gave ya the AeroBento. The other two are pretty cool, splash/spill proof products.

Beyond that there will be more beginning in '17. We don't want to show anything until it is ready to be delivered to the consumer now.

But we are constantly listening to consumers, and developing cutting edge aero products we believe to be a leap above the competition.

I have a torhans one and its great, the profile bento is a bastard to get your fingers into in comparison

Nothing that a sharp knife wouldn't fix though

Yep, these are in production now. Had a few of them for Kona. Allows for easy integration for frame cable/Di2 routing aft of the stem/steer tube. Much larger volume over our current Aerobento.

Cool, defo registering my interest :-)

A few questions from me :

1) Size of its foot print.
2) Height and angle at the front.
3) Is the base flat ? (I don't have top tube bosses but 3M UHB sure sticks well ...)
4) When can I get my hands on one.

Thank you !

Peter :-)

Are these the same as the Argon18 E119 Cookie Jar? Do you know when they will be available?

Thanks!

I had a Torhans bento box for my P3, bought in March this year - it literally lasted for 4 uses before the top and sides suddenly separated from the base mid ride, taking all my nutrition for that race with it! Leaving just the plastic based bolted to my crossbar!

Waste of money and a wasted race. I live in Europe, so not worth spending €20 to mail the remains back to Torhans to try to get a refund. Live and learn.

I had to ditch mine too, but mainly because the base broke around the mounting bolts; inevitably caused by the amount of force required to extract anything from it.

When will these be available for purchase? I have an E-117 coming and would love to have this before the bike is built in about a week or so.

That Specialized product looks well thought out, except for the limited capacity; 4 gels is a bit crap, if true.

I agree, I am going to grab one. I really like that it doesn't have Velcro so it won't snap my Lycra.

Although it looks a bit pregnant, this guy fitted eight gels in it :

Thanks for showing me the Spech offering.
Setting my new P2 up and want something hard shelled and aero, with decent capacity and good quality.
I'll contact Torhans on their site and see if there is an update.

I got a Profile Design for my Ridley Dean, and don't like how it's wider than the top tube. The base of the box is 4 cm just as the TorHans.

I recently added the Profile Design to my P2. Have been happy all around. Only downside is that the top tube on my 51 cm frame is short enough the back corner of the box can poke me in the thigh when I put a foot down. It is a nice wake up at stop lights sometimes.

How wide (at the widest point) is your ridley top tube?

According to my rough measurements, the top tube is 11/2 inches, and the Profile Design Bento is 15/8 inches. It's just a dinky bit, but I'm thinking of doing some customizing.

Disappointed about the increased width by 5-6mm and that might make it a deal breaker for me despite liking the update otherwise.

Agreed, the old one fit a p2 perfectly. The extra width would allow it to see wind.
