Agreed. Especially after the Rams took the Seahawks.
Many surprising stuff so far. But then again injuries happen so fast things can change very quickly. The Cowboys looked really good two weeks ago and suddenly the situation looks bad. Pats had the same when they lost Brady one year and gronk a couple of years ago. Rodgers' ankle... Manning's neck ...
16 weeks plus playoffs. A lot can happen.
Every year a team, even two teams some seasons, start 0-2 and make the playoffs. Sometimes you have a 2-4 team turn things around. Lots and lots of football to be played, and injuries dictate a lot of it...the Cowboys are sitting at 2-0 but it can't feel good as a Dallas fan knowing Romo and Bryant are out the next two months or so.
My surprises, so far:
--Miami struggling with Washington then losing to Jax. Lots of people had them as the 2nd best, or even the best, AFC East team. Suh seems to be making headlines for all the wrong reasons right out of the gates, too. Love the offense, but their defense hasn't been what people were expecting so far.
--Baltimore could be in for a rough season. Flacco's been reliant on big, physical receivers he can chuck the ball up to. Does he have one this year? Steve Smith will get his but I'm not seeing that second WR threat now that Torrey Smith is gone. The defense doesn't look as stout as years past, especially the secondary. Manning's noodle arm masked a bad defense, imo, the fact Carr tore them apart should be worrisome for Ravens fans
--Speaking of Carr, I kinda like that Oakland offense. I think that division is as wide open as any in the NFL with Manning a shell of his former self, but they'll have to bank a bunch of wins with their closing stretch (KC, @DEN, GB, SD, @KC). I still think the Denver defense keeps them atop the division but for the first time in a while I think Oakland might be a decent team.
--Never mind that Philly is 0-2...what the hell is going on with that offense? For a guy lauded from every corner as an offensive mastermind Chip Kelly hasn't exactly lit the NFL on fire now that he has 'his team'. Maybe ditching Shady McCoy wasn't so hot a decision?
--The horrible NFC South is a combined 5-3! Seriously though, I think Atlanta is a legit playoff contender, beyond them I'm not buying Carolina's 2-0 start (wins against the Jags and Texans), and TB and NO are pretty garbage
--Arizona might be my dark-horse SB pick this year, IF (big if) Palmer can stay healthy. Defense is legit, dynamic return man, and I like their young offensive weapons, I think they finally have a QB and complementary help for Larry Fitz, just a question of whether he still has enough in the tank to be the elite receiver all season they'll need. But I think they're as complete a team in the NFL as there is, besides maybe NE and GB.
