Lance and Ironman?

What do you think Armstrongs bike split would be at Ironman? What about a finish time?

Who cares? He really doesn’t want to do it.

This has been discussed before and would depend on the course but assuming IMH…

S - 0:55ish - B - 4:30ish - R - 3:10ish - 8:45 +/- 20 mins

FWIW - I see him doing Xterra WC before IMH.

4:30??? Come on now. You are saying his splits would be SLOWER than the course records???

I am guessing he could ride a conservative 4:10 to 4:15

And his swim would be faster - remember - Lance walks on water.

nice
.

I bet he would have ridden well under 4:10 this past year…But I bet Faris still puts about 8 mins on him in the water even if lance has 6 good months of swimming.

Considering he averaged “just” 28.8 mph in his last 34 mile TT - I would put his 112 mile TT at about 4:05 give or take a few minutes…so yeah 4:15 would be no problem but he generally doesn’t run 26.2 after his TT

Fair enough. Also, his cycling fitness would not be at TDF level. Naturally it would wane as he takes on swim and bike training.

Just remember, the more LA hears he can’t do something the more he kicks butt of the non-believers. There is a whole lot of guys with their tail between their legs for doubting him. I still remember getting blown off the road by a young puke kid from texas.

Don’t forget that TT had some signficant hills in it and some very technical descending. His 28.8 was crazy fast. You are not going to find either of those in most tris…

With or without EPO?

With. Anyone who thinks tri is a clean sport is crazy.

I think most people are afraid to admit that he has the potential to dominate IMH like he dominated the tour. It’s only a matter of time and the more naysayers there are talking smack the sooner he’ll do it.

Always the voice of optimism…

…I know, I know…you will tell me to get with it and face the facts…yada yada yada…

I think it would be a great PR move for WTC to just issue him a standing invite to come to Kona any time, all expenses paid, if he ever chooses to do the race. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Well I don’t see how tri can be any diffrent they any other endurance sport at the pro levels.

Plus nutrition in Cycling is vastly different than nutrition in running. Not that I don’t think he would have the resources to “get it” really quickly, but I don’t think he would win the first time either. A marathon is a loooooong run.
I agree that the pros don’t get nearly enough credibility and credit.

Not necessarily win for LA. Many people would see 2nd place as a failure for a 7 time TDF winner. He would have to be doing it purely for himself - a personal challenge.

Farris/Read et al could ride 4:10/4:15 if it was a bike only TT. Oh yeah, there is a marathon after. Hmm. My money is on Farris unless Lance puts in 2 solid years of training which he ain’t going to do.
