Re: 2017 Slowtwitch Nutritional Reviews: Gatorade Endurance New Formula (Post reviews here) [STConcierge]
Background: 45yo male, lives in Missouri (can get hot/humid)
Did distance running/CC in youth, 8 years in USMC, adult sporting included marathons, cycling, CF, and roller derby.
3rd year triathlete, primarily Oly and HIM distance.
This past year I typically placed in top 1/4, AG podium on a few small/local Oly distance races.
Doing first full IM at Louisville this October. I requested to join this review primarily because it would be nice to try what is being served on-course.

-received the products late July and started using August 1st.
-previously used EFS and Heed for electrolyte drink, GU gels for nutrition.

-Received 2 tubs (32oz/ 38 servings) of Gatorade Endurance (New formula) (1 Orange, 1 Cherry) and 1 box of 12 Lemon/Lime individual packets. And a Gatorade Endurance branded cycling bottle.

- I generally like orange flavoring the most, the cherry surprised me on how well it tasted. The Lemon/Lime was agreeable as well.

- I used the product as recommended on the label. 3 scoops/1 packet for a 24 oz cycling bottle. I found if you fill the bottle 1/3 then add the powder you cut down on the amount to "powder dust" that comes out, and it dissolved more complete than dumping into an empty bottle. Also, it seemed to dissolve better in less-cold water (better in cool tap water than ice-cold)

- The taste was spot on for my liking, not too sweet and a hint of saltiness. Still enough flavor to get an idea of the concentration level. If the temperature was going to be high, I'd add an extra half-scoop and it still tasted good. I even tried it with 5 scoops/bottle, and it still didn't taste bad, not overwhelming and syrupy.

- I used for any training that lasted an hour or longer. 1 bottle for long swims, 1 bottle for each hour running or cycling. I didn't think it provided enough calories/energy for "extended" training events (based on personal preference/needs). For events last more than a couple hours (ie: 5 hour cycling) I also added Carbo-Pro for increased calories.
- I also made a concentrated mix (4-1), adding 1/4 bottle to 1 bottle of water in the BTA reservoir. That worked out well.

- The individual serving packets were convenient for longer training events, I just needed a source of water.

- did not have a discernable GI issues. The only times I did have issue, I could identify the cause (ie: spicy dinner the night before)

- I did feel the electrolyte provided in the product was sufficient for long efforts. I did not use any other electrolyte source (salt tabs or Base salt) during this test period.

- I would use this product more if it were more widely available (mix not available in local grocery stores, individual bottles in quick-marts or gas stations)
