Garmin don't have a monopoly in the market, unless I've missed something - which given my past record is very likely! They might be the dominant player, but that's not quite the same.

Is it that easy to include a music player with bluetooth connection to earphones, storage for said music, ANT+connection to ancillary items, and still have good battery life for GPS tracking and other performance metrics?
