Re: Official Speed Concept Owners Thread [paxfobiscum]
I have the same objective - I like Trek and I like their products but there have been issues and my guess is there are going to be more issues. This should be WARNING to anyone thinking of any of the new uber bikes, especially the ones rushed to market and NOT just Trek.

To directly answer your question this comes from Trek Customer Service and Warranty Department. I was told mid last week and I was also told I can call up again this week and check the status further. At the time no date could be given but it was reiterated that they have sold more Speed Concepts than TTXs. They had Trek World going on last week as well and I was told everyone was out of the office for annual sales meetings. To add to the issue you had, well I had a problem where my QR would slip even after being tightened appropriately. I have never had a front wheel skewer ever slip, but it was easy to replicate just by pressing the wheel laterally a couple of times and it would pop loose. I don't have the fork so I can't tell if there is some misalignment on mine but you have me interested now.

I have not been happy with the response on this from Trek. IMO it is me pushing this process forward and not the other way around. I feel like it is a nuisance to ask the Trek LBS again about the matter so that is why I have been talking directly to Trek HQ. IMO you don't pay top dollar for a bike and then start having all sorts of issues - there is a reason lemon laws were developed and right now I feel like I got a lemon and Trek's lack of attention to the matter is a little bizarre. We are talking about bikes that cost almost as much as a car. If I worked at Trek I would pickup the phone and start finding out when more forks would be available and then get back to the person. Start by calling manufacturing and work from there. Telling a person there is no date and just leaving it at that is not an appropriate response IMO. Maybe others are more reasonable than me.

In another note, I seriously think that I have to have two Tri bikes at all times now because you never know what is going to happen and how long it is going to take.
