I was in the same boat you are. I seriously considered a Flo 60/90 combo but I wasn't going to be able to get them for months and I realized that a SRAM 60/80 set up was only $200 or so more at a local store on sale. I went with the SRAMs (instant gratification, brand name, and the backing of the LBS). I have really liked them.

As an aside, I fully planned to use the SRAMs as everyday wheels but after slogging through rain, mud, etc. on a lot of training rides, I have elected to set up a pair of training wheels because I can't bear to see an $1100 wheelset getting beaten up. (I still can't wrap my head around $1100 being a "cheap" wheelset).

EXACTLY!! That IS value. Do we need to worry about hub quality if we do this? I have an Ultegra on a Mavic Open Pro.
Is that parade on yet?

Buying Flo wheels seems like a tough process with the planned selling dates and all that. I hear that you have to order about the minute they start accepting orders for that batch if you want to get some. Im looking at SRAM s80's in the near future, they have the exact zipp design from just a few years ago but with aluminum rim/carbon fairing

We are doing our best to get better at that. This time people were able to purchase just about any wheel for about 3-4 weeks. Most are sold out now but we still have limited stock available.

You don't have to drop $2200 for a set of Zipps. If you're patient, you can build a set of tubular fc 808s or 404s for around $1300. You have to be very quick as they sell quickly at those prices. You can also find a good pair of 404 non FC clinchers for around $1000.

If you're looking at going non Zipp, I had a set of Williams 85 CC with the hybrid ceramics and they're amazing! I now have the Zipp FCs, but every time I see the Williams, I get all nostalgic. It's too bad Williams doesn't have a clincher disc yet...

Planet X Wheelsets are probably the best value for carbon tubular wheels out there.

I recently bought pair of Fulcrum Racing Quattro's on wiggle.com. I'm excited to try them out when the weather warms up. They were $360. Wanted something that would be a true upgrade over the stock Mavic CXP22 that came with my bike. They seem reasonably aero, a good all around wheelset and you can't beat the price.

No offense to other STers, but I couldn't fathom spending more than $400 on a wheelset upgrade. I just don't have the cash to throw around on a $1-2k set of wheels.
