You are correct. And I know the study you are referring to. No, the Aero mast does save power, it saves just over 1 watt. 50 grams, no way. Not in any of our testing or third party testing that has included our products. We have seen over 50 of course with entire systems, but I can guarantee, at the benefit of our competitors, that no straw, above the base bar, will produce 50 grams of drag. We are happy with the over 1 gram of savings with the Aero mast. I really just don't know how they came up with 50 grams of drag. In our comparative testing we were very cognizant to make the testing as objective and fair as possible. All systems with a straw for example were set to 11.5cm of straw (I believe that was the number).

Mine is about 2 months old and it came with a solid cap and a perforated cap. These were in addition to the perforated splash guard "insert". It is my understanding that Torhans is coming out with an additional cap - a spring loaded solid cap - in the next month or so.

I am having trouble with my straw mast popping off whenever the road isn't completely smooth. I used electrical tape to keep it in place for now, but I need to figure out a way to fix it in a way that doesn't look like crap. I sent an email to the company a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone have any ideas?

To fix the mask from coming off get two "o rings" from your hardware store and place one inside the bottle (put the straw part way in then fish out the straw and installed the o ring at the
position that will be right next to the top of the inside bottle when you pull the straw through.) Place the other o ring on the top of the straw right on top of the mask....the mask want move if you have tight fitting rings,

So I just bought a 2nd Gen? Aero 30 from Trisports July 5th. Mast is still an issue with bumpy roads. Mine also came with a perforated inner liner, and perforated AND solid caps. My comment is, when I insert a bottle through the perforated CAP, the INNER perforated liner is not pierced by the bottle, and the small space above the perforated liner fills with fluid quicker than it leaks through the perforations into the aero bottle. The result is fluid overflowing the aero bottle and spilling everywhere during a refill. What am I doing wrong?

I do not think you are doing anything wrong, I have a 20 and same issue.
Btw did order those foams from jetstream, tried it last night and this seems to be the solution to really stop all leaking. Going to try it on a longer ride to find out if there are any set backs.
What I have found that even with the closed cap there is still leakage (both under the cap as well as by the straw). Looks like the foam is going to stop all of this. The jetstream foam is perfect fit and seems to hold in place solid.
I have a 20 and 30 and the foam seems the best solution so far.
Ted: perhaps you guys should look at this as a solution to all these issues (the different caps are not going to solve this imho...)

Some people have cut a leaf or two in the inner liner off so that the fluid can run more freely to the water bottle. Let me suggest though that you cut one, try it out and if you need more flow, then cut another leaf.

not sure if you are replying to the foam solution but just to make sure, you can refill perfectly fine through the foam, absolutely no issue. Played with water last night and works like a charm. Likely going to use it for IM next week

toss the inner liner, it just goes into the bottle (I have a first gen 30 without the inner liner), push it in and it sits...
Tried it in the 20 as well and you can keep the inner liner if you want but than you also keep the refil issue

Is it really a foam insert? Or does it look more like a dishpan scrubby thingy? Yea, bad description, I know. I have a Profile Design Aero drink with a black tear drop shapped scrubby thing instert, about 2 inches tall, and tear drop shaped with 2 slices at each end for inserting the straw.

I used it for Syracuse 70.3 like that. It doesn't take a lot of effort to pull the cap off and refill it. Just sayin'.

Cut off part of one of the tabs on the lower inner liner. That'll fix that issue, and not add any spash issues.

I have noticed the new barrier is alot harder to put on while riding at race speed and I can't find anyone who has that foam in stock and available online.
What is the current best/most effective without damaging the product suggestion to keep the mast in place.....last I heard it was to spray hairspray on the bottle and the mast. Should be sticky enough until you wash everything in the dishawasher.

Problem I have is I've had the bottle and mount a couple months and when I was riding the other day I noticed my Velcro strap that holds the bottle in was dangling. I thought I hadn't secured it, but when I looked at it I noticed the loop on the mount had actually broken. No clue how that could've happened. Seems kind of ridiculous actually and I doubt I'll buy another mount, but instead I'll sell the bottle and go back to something else. Anyone else had this problem?

just in case you didnt catch my reply in another torhans related thread, using silicone (swimming ear plugs) at the bottom part of the mast will keep the mast from falling off. this works if you are using the velco strap in the front part of the bottle. i havent had a problem since i started using the silicone and the strap.

Thanks - I've got a race this weekend on chipseal and started to get worried. How hard is the silicone to remove?

not hard at all. i usually remove the silicone with my hands as im washing/rinsing the bottle out. btw, i dont place silicone around the hole where the drinking straw goes. i might give that a shot. just the other hole in the mast.
