Keys at races?

It's looking like i am going to my xterra in the morning by myself. My wife and kids always go with me but one of the kids are sick. I may not even go because of it but i have put in alot of time. Anyways my question is what do you guys do with your car keys when you race? I thought about just leaving my backpack in transition with my keys but people could walk off with it. Dumb question i know.

I just leave mine in my bag at transition. My guess it people will walk off with lots of other things before car keys especially at a bigger race with lots of cars in the lot.

at running races, I regularly see people just put their key on top of their front or rear tire.
even one of those cheap magnetic key cases would make a little more sense.

I "installed" an aftermarket keypad on my vehicle so I don't have to worry about carrying my keys with me when training. I just lock them inside, then use the keypad to get back in.

I tried the magnetic cases but my key is huge. It won't fit. I have put them in my gas door when doing open water swims but i am not comfortable with it.

All runners leave their keys on top of a tire. It is a well known fact if you ever have an emergency need for an automobile, find a track or a running trail and you will have your pick of vehicles

You could always put it wherever you put your flat kit.

I threw them into the lake at one race. That didn't work out so well.

I typically use two options: at bigger races I just leave them in my transition bag. I figure if someone steals them they'll spend half the day trying to figure out which car they belong to. Other frequent option is to put them in the wheel track of my rooftop bike rack. Someone would have to be 8 feet tall to see them up there.
Also tried inside my gas cap cover. Tucked in the gap where the windshield wipers sit. In the grille. Inside the spare tire cover (rear mounted tire on a Jeep). Behind the license plate (a bit loose). The crazy idea of leaving them hidden IN the car with the doors unlocked (what's the difference, really?). And, yes, on top of the tires.

I toss them somewhere in the car and leave it unlocked.

Leave em on a tire - I have never heard of a car stolen from a race, though bikes have been known to walk away.

I just bought one of these...similar to what realtors use. You can attach them to your car's door handle or undercarriage parts or just to the transition rack.

Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
