I don't want to take forever putting on socks, arm warmers, gloves, etc in T1. I weight 180lbs. It looks like it will be in mid 50s for the bike. This should be plenty warm.

socks on the bike are never necessary. stick toe covers on the shoes before the race and have warm piggies without a T1 time hit.

arm warmers are at you discretion.

I am local and the evening news predicts heavy rain saturday through saturday night and then CLEARING FOR SUNDAY MORNING and rain again in the afternoon.

there's a chance it could be better than we're all dreading.

Light rain here in NH now. Seems about 52 or so. Hope today's race happens.

Any weather updates? What they even cancel it due to rain? It was looking okay for Sunday but now I don't know.

Yes, with unsafe conditions.

Weather anywhere in NH around 10-15 miles from the big lake is very unpredictable and very localized. Super sunny and warm and 10 miles away it can be pitch black with horizontal rain.

That said I'm betting we have the race as scheduled tomorrow.

I just wondering with flooding, etc. if this will make the bike dangerous and they will have to cancel.

Drainage around newfound seems to be pretty good, so flooding should not be too much of an issue. Drop tire pressure 5 pounds, toe covers on bike shoes, clear glasses treated with no fog, running shoes with socks inside left upside down in transition, and something to keep the rain out of you eyes on thr run.

Avoid puddles and paint.

These tips and a dose of htfu and you'll have a good race regardless of weather.

Well, good question. Conditions were certainly bad enough that all endings are possible. ;)

I just tried swimming in the pool and couldn't so I'm out. Real bummer. My right elbow took a bad hit in a fall two weeks ago but I was hoping to be healed enough to swim
Now my only hope is that the weather gets bad enough to convert it to a run/bike or run.

It was very "interesting!"

Swim conditions were great because the water was probably 10 deg. warmer than the air.

Bike was a pretty solid downpour. I had put on a long-sleeve wool shirt and needed every bit of it. A friend stuck with his tank and was quite cold.

The rain had lightened up for most of the run.

Overall the temp was not unbearable until I was done. I defintiely needed the foil blanket afterwards.

Transition was a swamp. Not just muddy, but inches deep puddles.

Still, there were some really fast finish times as far as I could tell.

Definitely affected it. The swim was the warmest part of the whole thing (which is kind of sad if you think about it). Tons of water on the road which on some descents made it seem like my brakes weren't even doing anything. Tons of DNFs and I'd have to say anyone who even showed up earned some serious HTFU points.

Ha. I forgot about the brakes! The one tight turn on the short course and I think I was grabbing my rear brake (I do understand front v rear) as hard as possible and not much was happening. Tomorrow could be crazy for the 70.3 guys who really need to brake.

I think they said 62.5, but I would say it felt warmer than that.

They were saying 62. I've seen reports saying 70 but that seems to be at the other end of the lake so I'd say it was 62. It really wasn't bad with the wetsuit (and I don't have sleeves either). Good luck to everyone racing 70.3 tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be a little nicer for you guys.

Yep, cold on the bike, my feet were frozen (no socks, tri shoes on the bike) starting the run but the weather/rain really wasn't bad until--as someone else said--you finished and really felt the rain and cold. Transition was a mess, that's gonna be a challenge for tomorrow if it doesn't drain because there were inches of puddles all around transition.

Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow. Beautiful course and area, hopefully the weather holds out for at least decent conditions.
